Portals or Fey Gates "Fe Get"

Portals

Origins: The portals were developed thousands of years ago by the Hayahriva. The magic to create them has been lost to the mists of time. These portals were distributed all over Tolesh. The Hayagriva used this magic to help and contact other peoples.

Creation: To make a Fet Gate you must learn/cast the 7th level Wizard spell Enachaint Fe Get, and build a stone gate and base costing 50,000 gp min. To make an orb you must have a 20 Intelligence and learn/cast the 9th level Wizard spell Fe Fet Orb Ko Mantramugdh Karen and create and orb of platinum or gold casting 50,000 gp min. This must be done twice (once at each end of the portal.

Drow Influence: The Drow saw these portals and immediately realized how powerful they would be to anyone invading an area. The ability to move tropps from one place to another instantaneosuly was a power tool to amy arsenal. However, the Drow were not sure how to make or properly use these portals.

When the Drow came to Northen Tolesh, they were able to study these structures without constant harrassment by the Hayagriva. Before they could discover all of the secrets, however, the Second Sun impact occurred and stopped all progress in this magical research.

There are basically two types of portals, as described below.

1) Fey Gates "Fe Get"

Origin: Mass portals are large and can move many creatures/objects at once. These portals have a large bowl shaped divet nearby. The intended way to use these portals was to magically enchant a pure spherical orb of valuable metal and place it in the depression. When both sides had the proper orb places in the divet, the portal would permanently open (until one, or both, of the orbs were removed) that would allow any number of creatures (and anything they could carry) to move unimited and unerringly between them. This was a very expensive endeavor requiring a very powerful enchantment. If only one portal has an orb, you may only move from the portal with an orb to the portal that is missing an orb. You cannot enter a portal that does not have a active orb.

Drow Influence: The Drow discovered another way to open the Fe Get. Using the Life Essence of a deceased creature they could open the portals with limitations. This Life esence could be the blood of a recently (no more than ten (10) minutes prior) deceased creature that died within 30' of the portal or (as they later discovered) the creature's Life Essence trapped in a Soul Gem placed in the divet. For each Life Essence (blood or crystal), the portal would allow ten (10) creatures (and gear) to pass through before the essence was used up. This counted either way through the portal. (i.e. One (1) creature could pass through the portal ten (10) times, reglardless of direction). Also, the portal would only stay open for ten (10) minutes. They also dicovered that they could move existing Fey Gates and use them, if they were put back precisely as they were before dissasembly. Note: The portals in Fekete To' are ancient portals that have been moved to their current location.

2) Personal Magic Portals "Varázslatos Személyes Portál"

Origin: The Drow studied the Fe Get and subsequently discovered they could make smaller versions of these portals. These would only allow one person (plus gear) at a time to move through them. However, these portals used smaller, less magic intensive enchanted orbs in the divets to open the portals permantely. These portals could also use the Soul Essence of any creature, one (1) non-sentient creature per one (1) pass through the portal, either direction, as well as sentient creatures, at a rate of ten (10) passes per esence, and would expire in around forty-eight (48) hours (expiring on the 4th sunset).

Note: One gate created by the Drow is powered by an ancient altar that where many creatures were scarificed by the Bonecaller Cult. This in a one of a kind portal. There are ceremonies that can activate and deactivate this portal known only by three (3) of the higest members of the Bonecaller Cult.
