Ichor

The Ichor is a very special version of the alcohol created by the alcoral. All the steps involved in creating this type of alcohol are the same as those for making other versions, except for one additional step. Every spring, the fruit trees that produce the Ichor are fertilized by pieces of the Divine Scavenger. These pieces flow through the trees. The alcoral polyps suck it out with moisture and nutrients. When they convert the sugar into alcohol, this special ingredient adds a unique taste and smell to it. The ichor is created only at The Root, the religious center of the valturo. The fertilization of the trees happens during the Spring Wings spring ritual when they sprinkle the pieces of the Divine Scavenger from the air.

The Divine Scavenger is the most holy creature for the valturo. Everything that is connected to it is blessed. Because of this, the Ichor is consumed only during the most sacred ceremonies, and it is not sold to anybody. Therefore, it is enough to create just a few drops of the drink.

Those who drink it say they become one with the Divine Scavenger. This feeling might be because of the low alcohol tolerance of the valturo, or because of their zealotry, but too many of them tell about this feeling to sweep it under the carpet. They even have a name for the condition. It is called Divinetouched.

The ichor is blessed. Therefore, the valturo won't sell any of it. Because of this, its price is extremely high on the black market. Many smugglers and treasure hunters tried to get their hands on it, but it is close to impossible to get to The Root, and a fanatical sentinel group, the Thorns of the Canopy, continuously protects it. That small amount of ichor that sometimes surfaces on the black market is most probably smuggled out by valturos living in The Root.
