Dark Elf

Dark Elves in Syrioc are treated as a shunned and evil race. Fey see them as imposters not worthy of sharing the same magical lineage, and mortals fear their fanatical underground societies. The root of this deep-set mistrust came from when the dark elves followed Lolth, the Spider Queen as their patron deity after the Starshaper Rebellion rather than Lyra. Legend has it that Lolth stole a few of Lyra's creations and corrupted them into her own race, one which she could control and conquer. Because of this, Dark Elves are unwelcome in the Feywild, and often find themselves targeted by Lyrian worshipers.   Fanatics of the spider queen were banished to make their home in underground caverns and caves. Historically, the elves would venture up to the surface in raiding parties to capture slaves for their underground cities, to serve as sacrifices to Lolth. Over the years since the mortal era began, the grudge against dark elves has receded, but there is still a general distrust of the betrayer fey.   One colony of note in Dark Elf society is the city of Ryn Sól in Trekalt. The settlement used to be run by Valeska Krakovski, a dictator driven mad with her obsession with Lolth. Her assassination was arranged by a contact of the Vasyliev family in 657ME, after which, the House of Vasyliev took power. The Vasyliev family wished to start moving up in the politics of Trekalt, so they banned all public worship of Lolth and slavery in the underground city. They wanted to begin building trade with the other houses of Trekalt so the dark elves ventured to begin building an above-ground city. The surface is still under construction, but at its center sit two very important pieces of architecture: the Grozdan Gulag and Vasyliev manor, a large and impressive capital for Dark Elf politics and power.   There are still Lolth worshipers in countries like Tauth who wish to see the Vasyliev family dead, and there have been numerous assassination attempts over the years, but with the ruthless management of the Vasyliev Family by Lord Keveric Vasyliev and Lady Verah Vasyliev, the family stays strong and adaptable.
