Auto-Magic

Christian possessed a high degree of magical aptitude just like his parents, but didn't know what he should do with it. He knew either a normal life or a magical one usually forces people to stick with it forever. But he was a gifted science student as well as a spell-caster, and had plenty of friends going to colleges he was interested in. Almost on the verge of choosing his friends over magic, he saw an ad in the paper that called to him. A small college in the middle of nowhere called "Galdur Drake's Halls of Extra-Ordinary Sciences". He strangely felt good about the school and applied.

When he arrived he saw a large group of students gathered around an old dilapidated church with a shiny green marble handle. He went in thinking he made a huge mistake until he was transported into what looked like a small retro futuristic city brimming with magical essence. He enjoyed every moment at the school and graduated top of his class. He'd often visit to use their facilities for his own experiments. During one experiment every single thing that could go wrong did, causing an explosion that tore through half his body. The only reason he survived was due to a protection spell he cast before and the medics on hand at the school.

His face beneath his eyes had been destroyed, it was replaced with a red magical flowing cloth that mimicked skin. His heart was gone, replaced with a pacemaker powered by a phoenix feather that made his veins glow with a gold color. His arm had also been torn off and replaced with a cybernetic arm connected to his mind, it would automatically cast spells that he needed. It was clear he'd been cursed, and after he recovered he set out to find out by who. His journey would take him on adventures that led him to become the hero he is now.
