Menkerot
Once of a jewel of civilization in the Southern Hemisphere since the end of the Scaled Tyrant's War it has been an inhospitable landscape of blackened sand enshrouded in a constant shadow of dark, unnatural clouds.
Geography
Once a land of white sands, verdant jungle, and rolling hills much of the land has been blackened by the ever present cloud cover the magical fallout of the dark magic enacted by the Scaled Tyrant. Much of the arable earth has turned into cracked, dried ground or simply into black sand. What remaining jungle exists is dangerous and twisted even as it withers away. The rolling hills have parched and cracked open. From fissures all across the landscape twisted creatures crawl forth from the torturous ruins of the land to mingle with the roaming undead.
Localized Phenomena
An ever present dark cloud extends across the entirety of the landmass from sea to sea keeping the land shrouded in shadow.
Climate
Hot days, cold nights, and an ever present sense of unease and dryness.
History
In the waning days of the Scaled Tyrant's 222 year war of conquest across the world they were driven back to the last of their holdings by the combined might of the Allied Armies. One by one the outlying cities and fortresses were liberated and overrun by the Allies until they arrived at the fortress where the Tyrant made their last stand.
Scholars and academics argue about what specifically happened, but what is known is that a great working of magic was enacted by the Tyrant or those within their inner circle.
The aftermath is clearly understood. The Allied Legions fell along with those closest to the epicenter of the blast. In the place of the fortress of the Scaled Tyrant rested a crater of blasted earth that stretched outward 100km from its center. Those outside the immediate blast were sickened and changed by the dark, magical fallout. Beasts and other creatures were twisted and made monstrous. The very flora of the land itself turned against itself and anything living.
It has been found since that anyone who dies upon the land rises as the undead, leading to an increase of the roaming dead across the land.
The surrounding and nearest neighbours to the land have enacted strict quarantine and travel bans upon Menkerot and any who travel to or from there. What few refugees seek escape are often turned away by many.
Is there anything more diabolical then destroying everything as you fall ? Loved it, great picture, great beofre / after effect, and now I'm intrigued !
