Phaze
Phaze is a Gnome wizard who displayed a surprising amount of aptitude for magic at a young age.
After an attack resulted in the death of his family, he fled with the Book of the Shadow, which the attackers were seeking.
Unbeknownst to Phaze, the book began whispering to him.
It encouraged him to learn the arcane, increasing his aptitude.
He became a student of Loradon the Wizard, who rapidly understood that something was influencing his gnome student, and cast a spell on him to block its voices.
After the death of his mentor, Phaze learned the spell. It keeps the voices away. Or are they just whispering really, really quietly...
