Session 8 - The Blood Iron Mines Report

General Summary

The party had finished talking to the Harbormaster Kragnel Goldflayer before Arlo Green , the local blacksmith arrived, seeking out the group. He inquired whether they would be willing to clear out the Blood Iron Mines of monsters that had taken them over. He was willing to pay and offer a ring of Blood Iron in payment for completing this task. He told the party he would speak to the Townmaster and others to see if they could chip for an additional reward. He explained to the party some of the properties of Blood Iron.   Blood Iron glows and gets slightly warm to the touch when in the presence of arcane magic. It functions as a basic form of detecting magic.   The party asks Kragnel about taking a boat to get to the mines, which were carved into a seaside cliff. He gives them a barge and they set off. They are easily able to find the mine entrance. They encounter a few groups of Sahuagin and slay them.   Finally the party reaches what seems to be the end of the mine. There is a campfire with a table, a few stools, a cage and some crates and barrels set up here. A figure sits by the fire watching the party arrive.   The figure greets the party, and a brief conversation follows. She has taken up residence in the mines and does not want to vacate it. Rath is able to determine that the figure is Fey, and it is suspected that the figure they are dealing with is a hag. Rath trains his weapon on the hag but she seems unconcerned as she continues speaking to the party. She tells them that she will leave if they retrieve a certain item, a silver bell with no clapper, inscribed with Elven script. She tells them that a certain shop called The Laughing Crow in the Plane of Shadow may have such an item. Rath is able to persuade the hag to tell them why she wants the item. The bell summons a pegasus, which she intends to eat, which is a rare delicacy.     The party is uncomfortable with such an agreement and decide on the next course of action. They decide that the hag is evil and must be eliminated. Muraad decides to strike first...
