Summary
Dirk is a Colonel in the British Colonial Army who oversees logistics and distribution for the armed forces. As a result, Col. Van Brugge is one of the central power players of Canal politics. He is also the shared head of the Van Brugge House with his younger brother Samuel. Despite this immense role in Ecumene society, Dirk is somewhat reclusive figure, particularly since the loss of his oldest daughter Lottie during her third tour on Umbra.
