Yellowstone Volcano
Geography
The Yellowstone volcano is one of the largest in the world, it is visible from much of the surrounding area and was once a busy tourist destination. The volcanic caldera measures miles across in each direction forming a crater filled with lakes and trees, indented into the surrounding mountain ranges. This caldera was formed by the collapse of the central magma chamber during the last super-eruption before the events of 3016.

The Yellowstone Volcano lies dormant for many years, its eruptions few and far between. Only a few have been recorded within the history of Earth, and none had occurred within human memory. These eruptions, when they occured, where incredibly destructive. Destroying ecosystems and reshaping geography. Humans and scientists were hopeful that the volcano would stay dormant forever, but they were proved wrong. The Yellowstone eruption of 3016 caused mass destruction to the area and drove many people and animals from their homes. The surrounding area is still recovering from the effects of the eruption a thousand years later.Earthquakes
Earthquakes are common in this area, due to both volcanic activity and it's position in reagards to geographical fault lines. Thousands of small magnitude earthquakes occur every year, with larger magnitude quakes occuring every couple of centuries. These affect the surrounding geography as they subtly shift lanscapes and rock formations. These quakes have become a part of life for the animals and people that live in the surrounding area, and infrastructure has developed in such a way that can withstand this on a day to day basis.History

Around two-thousand years ago, the yellowstone volcano was part of a national park; an expanse of land which was preserved for nature and tourism. Many people travelled there to camp, hike and explore the surrounding area.
Around the year 2568, the national park status was revoked, and the land was developed in order to keep up with the housing demands of the area. This disrupted the ecosystem, and some suggest that it may have caused the eruption of the volcano in 3016.
