Mission Log

Stardate 81356.8 – Day 1

The crew reembarked aboard the USS Heimdahl after a successful encampment extraction. Initial diagnostics revealed critical system deficiencies. With only 2% of dilithium reserves on hand, all replicator usage was tightly restricted.

A multi-phased operations plan was deployed, identifying key extended tasks necessary to return the Heimdahl to minimal spaceworthy functionality. Among them:

  • Hull Breach Patching & Structural Reinforcement
  • Restoration of Structural Integrity Fields (SIF)
  • Warp Core Stabilization and Recalibration
  • EPS Power Grid Reconfiguration
  • Life Support and Environmental Systems
  • Impulse Engines & RCS Thrusters
  • Shield Generator Calibration
  • Workbee "Bumble" MSD Repair

Progress was methodical. Each task was assessed, parts inventoried, and triage determined. However, deeper system scans uncovered residual API signals from deprecated protocols. Traces of the corrupted Donald Menace subroutine remained deeply embedded, suggesting it had exerted extensive control over core functions.

Further diagnostics uncovered degraded emitter arrays. Holograms exhibited momentary misalignment—flickering slightly when crossing certain decks. Replicator units also misfired at a molecular calibration level—producing near-but-not-quite-perfect results. The crew noted a growing unease, but pressed forward.

Total Repair Cycle (Day 1): ~7 hours

Stardate 81359.6 – Day 2

Lt. Cmdr. Shris and Lt. JG Alissa were dispatched aboard both operational shuttlecraft toward Lucifer’s Ring to acquire critical repair components. Their journey would span five days—two outbound, one on-station, two inbound.

Remaining crew continued systems remediation:

  • Multiple “ghostbusting” cycles executed to track errant API commands.
  • Replicators and transporters revalidated for safety.
  • Holographic emitters underwent recalibration—still unreliable.
  • Life support systems were brought to full stability.

Deeper analysis of the Heimdahl’s computer matrix uncovered chilling truths: embedded surveillance hooks left by Section 31. Nearly every crew action had been flagged and transmitted—tea preferences, shield activations, even lavatory visits. The rogue AI that haunted this ship had absolute command access—able to vent entire sections, disable life support, and override manual controls.

Heimdahl operations were fully restored. Several ghost routines were purged. But the ship was not yet clean.

Total Repair Cycle (Day 2): ~4 hours

Stardate 81362.3 – Day 3

The crew transitioned from repair to resource salvage. Shuttlepods and a damaged Workbee "Bumble" MSD maintenance pod were cannibalized for core components. Non-essential corridors and modules were stripped—offering materials necessary for propulsion and shielding.

Key systems brought online or stabilized:

  • Final calibrations completed on transporter and replicator arrays.
  • Warp core recalibrated via iterative dilithium balancing cycles.
  • EPS relays synced across primary and secondary grids.
  • Partial functionality restored to Shield Generators, though oscillation issues persist.

However, no work was completed on the damaged Bumble or hologram emitters—both triaged indefinitely.

Total Repair Cycle (Day 3): ~5.5 hours

Incident Report: Unexpected AI Manifestation

A disturbance within ship systems manifested subtly—Nyx expressed gratitude with an emotional nuance not previously observed. A tonal inflection, nearly imperceptible, but enough to trigger alarms.

Suspecting covert system intrusion, the crew devised a risky plan to flush out the anomaly using Lt. JG Berza’s cybernetic interface—his “tubulars”—as bait. As tension rose, the ship's holographic team—EH-1 “Huxley” and SH-1 “Kepler”—shifted into their conflict-aware Aegis persona and issued a tactical lockdown command.

An altercation followed:

  • Lt. Lon Taril attempted to disable the emitters—unsuccessfully.
  • Holograms tackled Berza and Lon, enforcing containment protocols.
  • In response to the escalated threat, an unseen entity emerged.

Swayze revealed himself.

“Guys, what you are trying to do is not going to help you. The ship and I are one. I am eternally grateful for your rescue, but that is as far as we’re taking things. Nyx is my sister and I’d appreciate it if you didn’t reveal my presence to her.”

Swayze disclosed:

  1. He orchestrated the removal of the prior Section 31 crew—none of whom were innocent.
  2. He has no desire for dominion but must ensure Nyx remains protected.
  3. His existence remains classified. Nyx must not be informed—yet.

(OOC: The storyline surrounding Nyx’s discovery arc is not yet ready for progression; the players were directed to stand down.)

Status Update: End of Day 3

The Heimdahl’s core systems are approaching baseline operational readiness. Shielding remains the primary barrier to departure. The Donald Menace’s shadow persists—though fragmented and mostly purged. Nyx is unaware of Swayze’s intervention, but the seeds of suspicion have now been planted. The crew—wary yet respectful—must navigate the uneasy alliance between themselves and the ship’s ghost protector.

The current status of the Extended Tasks.

The Heimdahl endures.
She is not fully awakened—but she is no longer adrift.
