Boons

Boons are special features that you can obtain via adventuring and conquering great foes, there are 4 different types of boons. Similar to item rarities, boons have tiers ranging from 1-4. If your character does not meet the tier level requirement for a boon, they are unable to use that boon or benefit from it until they have reached that level.  

• Tier 1: Level 1-4

• Tier 2: Level 5-10

• Tier 3: Level 11-16

• Tier 4: Level 17-20

 

Boon Switching

A character can only have a set number of each boon type active at a time. A character can switch which boons they have active at the end of a long rest, similar to preparing spells. The number of boons a character can have active in relation to the boon's type is listed in the boon type's description.  

Minor Boons

Minor boons are small abilities that typically do not change how a character acts or plays during combat, usually providing an out of combat, roleplay focused benefit. If it does affect combat, it is limited.   A character can have up to 5 minor boons active at any time.  

Major Boons

Major boons grant large passive or active effects to those who have earned them, often aiding a character in battle. A major boon does not have to affect combat, it can be focused on roleplay as well.   A character can have either 3 Major Boons active at any time, or 1 Massive Boon.  

Massive Boons

Massive boons provide a list of abilities and skills that are exclusive to each massive boon. They often provide gameplay changing options and strategies to characters that otherwise lack flair.   A character can have either 3 Major Boons active at any time, or 1 Massive Boon.  

Epic Boons

Epic boons follow the standard epic boons rulings you can find in official sourcebooks. A character can have any number of epic boons active at a time, but the only characters that can receive epic boons are level 20 characters after they gain another 50 badges after hitting level 20.
