Cloaking Technology
Description
Cloaking technology is one of more rare Saikar technologies. Records finds suggest that the various styles of cloaking techs designed over their time achieved mixed results, and were restricted to ships of a medium or smaller size. Due to its apparently prohibitive cost, only a small number of stealth ships were constructed.
In the modern era, some of these cloaking technologies have been uncovered and employed by the The Saikar Coalition - S.A.C, and they are considered restricted goods, banned from civilian use. Some black market options have been known to crop up in specific stores in the The Undermarket and other Myriad run chop shops around the system, but they come at a cost, and if a civilian vessel is found employing them, they will face heavy penalties from the S.A.C.
Models
Blackroc Disruptor
The Blackroc Disruptor is an aftermarket piloting app and exterior stealth system designed for low threat, simple stealth missions, and provides the minimum possible protection. When activated it shields or shuts down all communications and high power and heat sources on board with the push of a single button. Small nodes installed across the hull of the ship run an energy through the plating designed to absord and deflect potential radar and tracking pings in such a way that the vessel cannot be picked up by actie scanning.
Finnegan's Fine Fenagler
An independently developed cloaking system, Finnegan's Fine Fenagler was created post Empire by a Technomancer on Pyra. It employs all of the strategies of the Blackroc Disruptor, while also muddling and hiding the engine signature of the vessel on board.
Dark Star
Dark Star is the ultimate, all-in-one cloaking device. Installation requires the full overhaul of a vessel, or for it to be installed at inception, but once completed any ship using this device can be completely invisible at the drop of a hat. Used by the elite Dark Wings of the Empire, the Dark Stor consists of full stealth plating made of black metal, engine, heat, and power signature scramblers that allow the ship to operate at 100% capacity without being spotted, and an activatable chameleon mode that displays whatever is behind the cloaking ship on its exterior panels.
History
Despite the records, the truth is that cloaking technology was much more advanced in the time of the The Saikar Empire, and the records kept were meant to mislead their enemies. Cloaking tech by 2660 PD was capable of completely obscuring from sight a ship of any scale, and there were large numbers of Dark Wings employed in the protection of the Empire.
