Calidor

Geography

Primarily a water world, Calidor features one small piece of land, Solus Island, in the northern Hemisphere occupied by the S.A.C. Outside of that, the planet is covered in one deep ocean. The region around Solus is a shallower portion of the sea, with The Drop near the equator, a massive and abrupt underwater shelf that falls away to deeper and darker parts of the ocean, a region avoided by most sentient life on the planet due to its colossol life forms.

Ecosystem

Marine life is the primary ecosystem of Calidor. A once well-balanced collection of life from massive undersea forests of seaweed to colossal deep sea creatures and everything in between, this delicate balance has been disrupted by S.A.C overfishing the waters to feed the people of Bastion.

A collection of intelligent, sea-dwelling societies exist, most finding their home and safety on the ocean floor or in suspended underwater cities. A small group of sea elves, however makes their homes hidden amongst the caves and shorelines of .

Ecosystem Cycles

The oceans of Calidor are subject to the whims of a serries of extremely powerful currents, creating large, high speed highways for local life. These curreents, however, also cause variable air temperature and pressure fluctuations that have made a very active and predictable series of monsoons and hurricanes that exist perpetually, travelling locked pathways across the planet that slowly shift, decade by decade.

Climate

Calidor's proximity to the star Hyperion makes for a primarily tropical climate. Temperatures are regularly pass 30 degreews, and high humidity exists across the world. In winter months, storms ansd rain are much more common, with temperatures hovering closer to 5 degrees.

History

Calidor was brought into the S.A.C unwillingly in 1089 AD. An important colonizational target due to its value as a food source, the S.A.C landed an expeditionary party and established the city of Calimport. A large percentage of their military force was stationed her for decades, fighting off attempts by the native populations to oust them, and protecting their fishing interests. The Prividea Conglomerate established their own private security force, The Shepherds, who earned their veterancy on Calidor, and allowing the S.A.C to withdraw their forces to deal with other threats.

After decades of conflict, war exhaustion settled in on the population, and they formally surrendered their world to official S.A.C control in 1148 AD. However, a faction of determined independence fighters known as The Tide Watchers, continue to attempt disruption of S.A.C operations, hoping to wear them down and earn a renegotiation.

Tourism

Calidor is a beloved tourist destination of the rich in the modern era. The ocean's surface is littered with resorts, cruise ships, and more off-the-books getaway destinations for those who can afford the trip.
