Toril

Toril is the central planet in Realmspace. Also called Abeir-Toril in ancient texts, it is a richly diverse and magical world teeming with civilizations, cultures, and mysteries.

Continents and Regions

  • Faerûn: The most well-known continent, home to iconic regions like the Sword Coast, the Dalelands, and the Underdark. It is the focal point of most Forgotten Realms campaigns.
  • Kara-Tur: A land inspired by East Asian cultures, known for its unique traditions, martial arts, and powerful spirits.
  • Zakhara: A desert-dominated region influenced by Arabian myths, featuring cities of wonder, magical traditions, and genies.
  • Katashaka: A wild region filled with dense jungles, savannahs, mountains and volcanos. Inspired by Central African civilization and myths, featuring opulent coastal trade cities, great beasts of the jungles and the dry savannah. An area notorious for being a safe haven to privateers and pirates.
  • Maztica: A jungle-filled land with themes and cultures reminiscent of Mesoamerican civilizations.
  • Other less-documented continents include Anchorôme and Osse.
