Navy
Structure
The Navy is led by the Chief of Staff of the Navy which has a very important role in the Joint Chiefs of Staff by being in charge of the Fleet Command or FLEETCOM along with the Vice Chief of Staff of the Navy. This command has a more administrative than operational duty by managing the material and human resources available to the branch. The Navy is now divided into the Home Fleet, in charge of protecting the Sol System, and twelve numbered fleets defending designated part of the Republic's space.
Doctrine
For combat doctrine, although this may change depending on the situation, the Navy mainly focuses on small and highly mobile groups composed of small ships in the case where the force faced is not very imposing or it concerns the fight against piracy. It is the formations composed of capital ships escorted by smaller ones which are used for larger opponents or the armed forces of another state. The first generally remaining behind and the second move fowards to take advantage of their greater maneuverability as well as protect the most vulnerable capital ships.
This is why the Navy's numbers are composed in part of ships such as corvettes, frigates or destroyers specializing in speed and close combat. Most Navy vessels equivalent to cruisers or above also possess the capability of embarking aircrafts to support the fleet during military maneuvers. These can sometimes be used in a space context for patrol, reconnaissance or close defense against smaller crafts, their primary purpose is however to support ground forces during they're operations like those of the Marine Force. These aircraft are assembled under squadrons led by a Commander reporting to the commanding officer of the ship.
Hierarchy
The Navy assigns its commissioned and non-commissioned officers to military ranks depending on their level of responsibility within the branch like all these of the armed forces. The commissioned officers must attend the Naval Academy of the Federal Republic to obtain a rank equal to or higher than Ensign unlike non-commissioned ones who do not require professional training.

Fleet
The Navy can count on many types of ship to accomplish these goals, from the small corvette to the huge dreadnought, today the Navy has an impressive number of more than 13,000 ships in service. All starships are prefixed with the letters FRS, which stands for "Federal Republic Starship", all government and armed forces ships have this prefix.
Defenses
The Navy also has a network of naval bases, forts and anchorages whose purpose is to provide static defense in orbit of the most important planets. They are used to do minor repairs for her ships, a resting place for personnel, home bases for smaller naval formations and logistics nodes for resupply. The Navy has at least two anchorages per system which are led by Lieutenant Commanders, if a system is of greater importance, it can also accommodate a fort whose direction is given to a Commander.
Naval bases are the most vital of all since each of them serves as the home base of a numbered fleet by hosting its staff. Given their larger scale, their command is entrusted to a Captain taking orders from the Admiral sitting at the base. All officers directing fixed installations are under the orders of the highest ranking officer of the naval unit using the latter as headquarters. The ranks are the same as in the rest of the Navy below the commanding officer of each installation.
History
I just had to say, I've seen a lot of work be put into universes that people create, and I put a lot of work into my own, but this is such a level of dedication I haven't seen yet! This page is incredibly detailed, and it feels like something that I could see existing. I'm amazed how detailed and precise this page is, and it's only one article out of many, many more!
It's one of my main goal during the creation of my world, I make lore in a way that makes the world tangible. I summed up my philosophy pretty well in my post “details are important” and I assure you that you will be able to find the same level of detail in the other articles.
