Farlian fashion has a distinct difference between traditional clothing and modern clothing, with the latter having a lot more influence from other cultures in the galactic coalition. Some forms of traditional fashion have become a bit streamlined to be worn for everyday wear.
Traditional fashion tends to be based on the traditional clothing worn before the destruction of their home planet. It often includes robes, stoles, etc, and is often worn for formal wear. The traditional outfits often include elements like layering, square collars, and large sleeves that sometimes are just an extension of the shirt body.
Clothing
Base layer
The base layer of traditional Farlian clothing is commonly made up of a pair of pants or a skirt worn with a simple top which commonly works like a button-up or polo but with a round collar.
Depending on the style and where it is being worn the shirt sleeves may be quite large, and they tend to be on the looser side or fully an extension of the shirt body with the bottom hemmed up to form sleeves.
The top can either be worn over the skirt or pants. In some styles, the skirt may be worn overtop of the shirt giving the illusion of a higher waist.
Outer layer
Outer layers often include a robe or a jacket, which often closes at the front with clasps, loose sleeves, and a square collar. These robes may have long sleeves or short sleeves, but in both cases, they still tend to have loose sleeves.
Another common outer garment, especially for women, is a shawl or poncho. These often have a square cut and in the case of the poncho often have a square neckline.
A stole may also be worn across the person’s shoulders, but this garment is reserved for community leaders and elders. It is an honor to be able to wear one.
A waist apron is also often commonly worn, especially by women. These are often heavily decorated with embroidery and beadwork.
Shoes
Most elements of traditional footwear have been lost due to having to wear modern shoes while seeking asylum and keeping that style of shoe around.
The most traditional form of shoe still around is a style of flats that are often embroidered and decorated. These are often worn by women for formal wear.
Headgear
Crescent or crest-shaped headpieces are often worn, especially for formal and religious occasions. These headpieces may or may not be used to shape the wearer's hair into the shape.
Hairstyles
Traditional Farlian Hairstyles often include high buns, using either all the hair or only part to create a half up half down hairstyle. Hair may be sectioned into loops or braids which are incorporated into the bun and give the hair more shape.
One could wear one bun, most common for adults, or have their hairstyles into multiple buns, more common for young girls and women.
Hairpins are often used to style and decorate the hairstyles.
Jewelry
Necklaces are often long and layered, but collar necklaces are also common. Earrings are commonly worn and are often large and chunky. Bracelets and rings may also be worn.
