The Basilica
The Basilica is the center of religious life in Palabran. It is the name of both the organization and the building out of which it is based—which is in Palabran City. It is also an official government body, sanctioned to enforce matters of religious law by the Red Empress .
Structure
The Basilica has a hierarchical command structure consisting of the following ranks:
- Acolyte—Rank-and-file clergypersons.
- Priest—Priests are clergypersons responsible for local temples, usually with a handful of acolytes working beneath them.
- Matriarch—Matriarchs are clergypersons responsible for either large temples or a handful of smaller temples in an area.
- Vicar—Vicars are clergypersons responsible for large geographical areas or for very important temples.
- The Grand Vicar—The Grand Vicar is the highest-ranking clergyperson in the Basilica.
