Grand Princess

How does a ragtag collection of vagrants and wanderers come to live under the rule of a single princess? I tell you: It is because of the herd of horse-archers riding behind her.

The grand princess is the ruler of Hargel. The grand princess has traditionally been a member of the Todorgah Tribe, who were selected as the war-leaders of the Hargellish people during their revolt against Palabran. Today, the title is generally passed down via. primogeniture, with the oldest child of the previous grand princess inheriting the title.

In theory, the other tribes could choose to nominate their own heirs for the title. However, it is very rare that this power is invoked—partially due to tradition and partially due to the Todorgah's military dominance. If one of the tribes were to do so successfully, it would undoubtedly destabilize the principality—and might even spark a civil war.
