The Rainbow Flag
The Rainbow Flag in Sotharia is a symbol of freedom, in sexual and gender identity, as well as kind of a middle finger to those against the LGBTQIA+ community. It has a rich history of being both a symbol for the community and for being a sign of solidarity. Over the years it has become much more widely accepted around the world, but nowhere is it more prominent than in the city of Jorhan’s Crest. They have traditions and a festival surrounding the flag, celebrated every year during the summer. The festival of colors, as it is called, celebrates pride for all members of the LGBTQIA+ people of the world, and is a massive event spanning an entire week. People dress up, paint their faces, play music, and much more. Especially at Twilight, the festivities are amplified and a parade happens all around the city in honor of The Twilight Prince. Participating in this event at least one time in their lives is considered almost a necessary pilgrimage in the LGBTQIA+ community, and is spoken of as some of the most fun one can have.
History
The tradition of the rainbow flag representing the LGBTQIA+ community in this world began over 600 years before the current date, by the reputation of the famous bard The Twilight Prince. His flamboyant appearances and open bisexuality became the symbol for those in the community. He was known for only ever performing at sunset or sunrise, which gave him his title. Later, the Dineestra Alliance made it one of their two flags after homophobic laws established in other nations made LGBTQIA+ people leave. The Alliance did not like this one bit, and so flew the flag on every single one of their vessels, promising safe passage to any who needed to escape persecution. Many other nations did not like this one bit, but technically, only Dineestra laws apply on their vessels and so they were powerless to stop them without going to war.
