Jorhan’s Crest

Art: WallPaperBetter
The city of Jorhan’s Crest is a coastal port city that lies on the south of Wardenfall. The city is the heart of the The Dineestra Alliance , an alliance of seafarers who travel beyond the continent of Wardenfall. The city is a place of laughter and light, with many exotic vices and goods from all over Sotharia. The mages of the city are renowned for their masterful manipulation of the senses, able to create sights, sounds,, smells, and tastes by manipulating the Weave, which flows especially strongly in the city. The city is a haven for magic users, with spellcasting made easier in the city due to the Weave's Leyline that comes up underneath the city.   Jorhan's Crest used to be a more prosperous and rich city, and indeed it still is today, but it is beginning to become mired in political manuvering and corruption, such that the city now is beginning to be taken over by the evening council and their speaker, Silas Rotherham. The Fiends defending the city in the air are actually under his command, he offered them to the city to use in defense after a breakdown in relations with cloudcity caused their airspace to be undefended, and he has leveraged that fact to take power in the city.

Demographics

The population of the city is divided into two main groups based on social class and wealth. The south part of the city, where most of the high end business is done, and the north part, where more shady dealings go on.

Government

The government is pretty loose in structure, with the leader being the winner of an extraordinary race known as the Kraken Cup.
More recently, the government has been broken up into three seperate groups, the morning council, in charge of planning for the future, the Day Lord, in charge of running the present, and the evening council, in charge of preserving tradition. Each has veto power over the others, so any decision made can only be unanimous.

Defences

The city is defended by the hardened sailors and navy at sea, and has a force of guards who protect the city from land based threats. In a time of great need, the thieves guild has defended the city before with a griffon cavalry reinforcement at the last moment.

Industry & Trade

The city itself does not produce many goods, but it facilitates trade with the rest of Wardenfall and so has made itself incredibly rich both monetarily and culturally due to the merchants who come from all over the world using the city as a hub for their travels. The city has good relations with the Thralashii, buying the wool products and the grain produced there. Hides and meat from the Northern Fleece, And a very limited trade for ores with the Knights of the Forge. Trade as of recently has mysteriously stopped with the people of the Fire Plateau, and no outbound trader sent there has returned in months.

Infrastructure

The city has many docks and shipyards, as well as facilities for sail making and training of new sailors. The docks of the city are extensive, and spread around most of the peninsula, divided by the large cliff at the tip where the capital building sits. Airship docks are available on this high

Guilds and Factions

There is a prominent thieves guild in the city that is actually sort of well-liked by the people, they are mostly just smugglers and even the guard doesn’t try to really stop them.

Points of interest

The city’s port is always a lively and colorful place filled with the banners of many smaller nations that form the Dineestra Alliance. Some extraordinary food can be found in hole in the wall restaurants here, and is from cultures all over the world.   The Wardtower at the top of the hill in the city is one of the most interesting parts of the city’s history, but not so much as an attraction.   The city has an open door policy when it comes to the capital building, but that’s because the government usually is not in the building that is reserved for them. Most of the time they are at sea or engaged in something in the rest of the city.

Tourism

People visit this city from all around the world in order to see its unique combination of cultures and people, and it is the largest tourist hub in the world during its annual Rainbow festival, in which the people celebrate their diversity and honor the memory of The Twilight Prince .

Architecture

The city is mostly made of white colored stone buildings with red tiled roofs, with many arches and bridges connecting them. Cranes are a permanent part of the city’s busy port scape, and are often seen being moved around the city.

Geography

The city is next to the sea side on a small cliff, with some gentler slopes and flat areas on beaches, and has a hill rising from the center upon which the most important buildings in the city lie.
