Mylorian Academy of Arcane Studies

The Mylorian Academy of Arcane Studies is the most prestigious institution of magic in Sorum, where young minds from all over the land come to study and explore the mysteries of the arcane. Founded nearly 7,000 years ago during the era of peace, the academy has been a beacon of knowledge and wisdom for countless generations of scholars and mages alike.   The academy is situated on the flying island of Mylor, which was enchanted with ancient magic to hold the castle in the sky for all these years. The castle itself is a marvel of architecture and design, with each floor dedicated to a different level of studies, and numerous towers dedicated to specific fields of magic, such as alchemy, conjuration, evocation, and more.   As students progress through their studies, they move from floor to floor, each level becoming more focused and specialized. At the early levels, students are taught in a traditional manner, with classes focused on the fundamentals of magic, the history of magic, and the ethics of magic.   As students graduate from each level, they are allowed to choose a field of magic they wish to study in greater depth, and they begin to become experts in that field. Those who wish to be certified as masters must teach their subject for a year to younger students.   The heart of the academy is its library, which contains vast collections of tomes, scrolls, and other writings on all aspects of magic and the world at large. It is said that one could spend a lifetime in the library and still not read everything it has to offer.   At the center of the academy lies the first teleportation portal ever created, which was crafted by the Irium of Knowledge, Mylor, from a repurposed Aldar portal after the academy's construction. The portal allows for instantaneous travel to different parts of Sorum and beyond, making the academy a hub of knowledge and information for mages and scholars from all corners of the land.   The Mylorian Academy of Arcane Studies is a self-governing institution, meaning that it is run entirely by its own faculty and student body. The school has a council of elders made up of the most respected and influential professors, who make decisions about school policies and regulations. The council also oversees disciplinary actions and academic standards. Additionally, the academy has a student council, elected by the student body, that acts as a liaison between students and faculty. This system of self-governance allows for a strong sense of community and a high level of autonomy within the school, fostering an environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and intellectual curiosity.
