Frontiersville

"We like strangers around these here parts, keep our local economy alive and well. Yee-haw!" - Mayor Wheatseed

Settled in the countryside near the border of Western and Central, Frontiersville is something of a tiny tourist trap town. It's found as a stop along one of the minor Plasmarail lines and serves as a resting spot for those on long travels who want to stretch their legs and experience one of the many cultures that makes up Western.   Recently it's been having something of an identity crisis, with Kojack's music becoming ever more popular the local musicians have started to try and combine cosmic disco themes into their western and folk music, even bringing in electric banjos and more modernized wind instruments.

Notable Buildings

Town Hall

With a large clocktower and wooden sign reading "Town Hall" above the entryway it was hard to miss the abode of the Mayor of Frontiersville.   Mayor Wheatseed, or "Tagrid Stone Wheatseed" for full, was is the dwarven mayor and original founder of Frontiersville. Together with friends and family they built the original structures that would formulate the residential side of town and advertised the new settlement as a haven for "Those with country in their souls and tales of cowboys on their shelves." While it hasn't quite grown as large as originally intended, he's still glad for the success the little community has shown over the years, becoming an official town on the maps of Western and earning itself an official Plasmarail stop once it passed the 100 citizen mark.   Open town meetings are held here monthly unless otherwise noted.

Sheriff's Jail and Stockades

"There hasn't been a new Sheriff in town since it's founding, ya' better get used to it"

The Sheriff in town was an original founder Frontiersville, often referred to as "Big Iron Bosst," this sturdily built Catfolk was certainly much more panther than tabby. He had weight to throw around and knew how to use it, topped with the large Plasmatech revolver on his hip and his boastful, though accurate, "quickest draw in the west," and there was never a criminal or no-good low-life scum he couldn't apprehend and put behind bars.   On the flip side, the deputy who worked alongside Bosst was often known for letting people off the hook with just a slap on the wrist, and, as such, tended to be more liked than Bosst. The Nagaji (Lamia), only going by "Jane," sported a tan and short black haired human upper body with the lower half of a western diamondback rattlesnake. Unlike actual rattlesnakes however she tended to use her rattle to signify being embarassed, flustered, or on the rare occasion, flirtatious.

The Ol' Saloon

A tavern found near the middle of town and connected to the Inn, this drinking spot has become somewhat famous amongst travelers for its homebrewed "Sol Sarsaparilla", often just called "Solparilla," and is said to 'harness the power of Sol itself to wet your whistle.' Similarily every total solar eclipse they are able to produce a limited batch of "Umbra Sarsaparilla" which is renowned country wide as one of the better speciality drinks, then being bought up by Eastern socialites and CEOs.   The tavern is owned and ran by a man known as "Mad Dog Marcus," a Beastkin resembling a furious golden retriever, and their partner "Pronto Pup Precillia," an androgynous appearing Werewolf. The duo has a very serious air about them, but as other residents will tell you it's all for show.   Local musicians often play here for the minimum wage and hope for good tips. The most prominant of these being "Jess Jones", a Ysoki (ratfolk) who also goes by "Jammin' Jess Jones" who can be found there on the daily. A well mannered and casual musician who doesn't mind not making it big in the world as long as he continues to get free Sarsaparilla for his current gig.

The Stables Hotel

"Come and rest your hooves for a spell."

Attached to the Ol' Saloon, The Stables is the local hotel. Owned and ran by the single "Beautiful Belle," a lightly dressed Centaur woman with the lower half of a brown and white clydesdale, the hotel prospers off the many tourists who stay a single night in town before moving on to their next, real, stop. The majority of the towns water supply ends up being used by this establishment, keeping Belle from ever becoming too rich through the hefty water fees she ends up paying.   Despite the 'old west' appearence on the outside, the rooms feature every modern luxury available. From heated running water, restrooms that are auto-adjustable through plasmatech to match your body shape or size, and an adjustable bed that can just as easily be converted to large round floor nests for four-legged (or no-legged) guests as it can to a queen-sized bed.

The Trading Post

Owned and ran by someone who obviously doesn't understand the whole western gig, but saw a money-making opportunity, the elegantly dressed Vishkanya was nicknamed "That richfolk's daughter from back East" from the local townsfolk but their real name was plainly "Vazshalesh." The nickname wasn't wrong however, as this Eastern Nation immigrant moved in search of an easier business market than the ones back home. Even if it did require suffering the rest of the towns "cringe" as she called it.   All sorts of general goods can be found here including some specially designed Plasmatech and normal weaponry, both having that "Western" touch to it. All of which is crafted by the adjacent smithery.

Smith and Sun's Smithery

Co-owned by John Smith and Sun Lavelle, a male human and red-scaled kobold respectively, the Smithery offers much more than just simple blacksmithing services.   The Kobold Sun Lavelle was an artificer of some repute and was often running around the town repairing various Plasmatech as issues arose. As their services became more and more stretched they ended up needing to train some apprentices to help fulfill orders. The three apprentices were often seen running about the Smithery or town as well.

Mistress Luxor's House of Pleasentries

Mistress Luxor, usually referred to as "The Mistress" by the other townsfolk and just "Luxor" by her friends, is a human with a love for performance art and, specifically, bodily performances.   It's no secret that Luxor's House of Pleasantries is a brothel catering to sorts of all kind. However those who work here tend to be Escorts in the true sense of not only engaging in physical acts, but willing to both attend and aid in many of the social events in town, or act as guards for those who may feel a little less safe while in town and occasionally out of it. They also are known to deal in information trade, and tend to be the first people the Sheriff and Deputy go to when in need of assistance tracking down a criminal.   A few of the staff are retired adventurers, others artists, and some just found the place by happenstance and ended up enjoying the line of work. Of course all are expected to keep to the artistic theme of the town, and as such one can usually expect a lot of whips, revolvers, handcuffs, and oversized hats to be involved here.   The current working staff includes the following genders alongside a few transfem and transmasc:   Male:
  • Centaur
  • Human
  • Elf
  • Female:
  • Centaur
  • Catfolk
  • Human
  • Shisk
  •   Non-Binary:
  • Nagaji
  • Human
  • Elf
  • Plasmarail Station

On the southern edge of town lays the grandoise Plasmarail Station, unlike all others this one has been heavily modified to appear as "authentic" to a western station as possible, though of course a modern Plasmarail Rider sits on the tracks instead of some old coal or steam engine. The large wooden station handles everything from immigrants to tourists from other countries, providing maps of Western alongside other general conveniences.

Mine Cart Mayhem - Festival Grounds

On the edge of town lays the festival grounds, where performances, plays, and general festivities are held. While notable ones include the great Corn Feed, harvest dances, hoedown's, and even marriage ceremonies, the must see attraction is Mine Cart Mayhem, an old-west styled minecart roller coaster, deemed first of its kind. The safety is questionable, but the fun is guarenteed! Using Plasmatech infused rails to propel the minecarts forwards, this attraction was the brainchild of the Mayor and Sun in order to provide another unique reason to come and visit their little town.

    Farming Fields

One of the roads out of town has an oversized archway, in bold lettering it depicts "FARMING FIELDS." True to its name, this road out of town goes straight to the massive farms that bring the only greenery beyond cacti to the town. Massive water pumps draw groundwater from near 400' below the sandy soil to irrigate these fields and keep the produce producing.

    Fort Prickly Pear

Fort Prickly Pear was not a real fort, and it never saw any actual combat, but it's fun to think it did! Modeled after a real fortification from the Era of Unification, Fort Prickly Pear features a tour guide, walk-in rooms, and even real working black powder cannons and muskets!

    Helios 9

Far outside town, just barely visible from the top of town hall, lies the sprawling solar farm and power plant known as Helios 9. This is one of over 75 Helios stations across all of Western, all created using blueprints designed by Atsuko Arai.   Helios 9 provides power not just for Frontiersville but for the massive Plasmarail system that extends throughout the desert and savannah. While each Helios station supports a segment of the entire system in Western, 9 covers one of the largest amounts of empty, dry, land and as such is often referred to by Plasmatech Engineers as "The Oasis Station." Its lack of proximity to any real cities or settlements also makes it difficult to get to. To aid with this, a special team lives in Frontiersville to go and make repairs and checks as necessary to Helios 9.
