Fungi Forest

Hidden beneath the surface of the world lies the Fungi Forest—a vast, damp expanse where bioluminescent mushrooms tower like trees and carpets of lichen pulse faintly with light. The air is thick with drifting spores, and the forest hums with a quiet, living intelligence. The mushrooms here do more than thrive—they see, spread, and whisper. Some are docile, others parasitic like the Mycoids, claiming beasts and wanderers alike, their bodies slowly repurposed into fungal husks.

Many who enter the forest seeking knowledge or power are never seen again. Those who return speak in hushed tones of living walls, fungal minds, and half-decayed monsters lurking for fresh meat.

The Fungi Forest is not merely alive.
It is aware.

Deeper still, partially swallowed by root and rot, lie ancient structures of unknown origin—cyclopean stone halls, overgrown archways, and puzzle-like artifacts whose purpose is long forgotten

In the deepest parts, atop the ancient Ruins of the Precursors, inside the empty husk of a Progenitor, sleeps the Mycoid Coalescence.
