The Matron-Weaver Aranex is the divine authority of all of Astana. She deligated the management of Homebound-Astana to the promising Silken-Court member Lord Arachnael.

Before Lord Arachnaels descend, the lower city was run by the Threadcallers. Only the Glyph-ledgers were - and still are - managed by the Araneo Clan.

In the center of Astana sits the Tower. A big structure of stone and web, its top covered in a silken cocoon in which the Old Ones - the first spiders - and other important guests reside. The main city - Homebound Astana - is split into 3 distinct districts:

The Web District: Not only the houses but also the streets and ceiling are made of web and silk. In the home of the clever Araneo Clan a diverse set of goods - delicacies, trinkets, pets, cloths, and more - can be purchased.

The Stone District: The earthen streets and crevices of this district are filled with fumes. The skillful Zidae Clan craft various things in their underground forges. Web-Pottery, Petrified Chitin, or Glyph-Gravure among the most common. The higher-caste members of the Lycosa Clan residing here provide them with whatever they need for their craft. The only Taverne for outsiders - the Webbowl - can be found here.

The Farm District: Tiered pit-farms lined with web-cages make up most of this district. Crickets and subterranean grubs are bred here en masse, tended mostly by the Lycosa and Virex Clan to ensure that nobody has to go hungry in Astana.

The Slyph Spirals are a gaping bottomless pit that sits in a big crevice under the False Sun, a little further from the Tower and its three districts. The wide shaft is filled with intricate webbings and Glyphs. Here the most sacred ritual of Homebound-Astana is performed by the Threadcallers - the Silk Oracle.

The Outer Webs are the four tunnels leading to Astana, they are priming with life and webbings. The small caves in the tunnels serve as homes to younger members of the various clans (primarily Lycosa), their entrances are secured by Glyphes. The south-eastern tunnel used to be void of Arachnoids, as many hostile creatures found their way to the city through those tunnels. However, since Lord Arachnael established the FANGs, the tunnels are secured by their outpost Vaneaguard.

In the northern part of the cavern the Retreating Lake can be found. The path to the lake is occupied by the asocial Crack Skulker Clan.

Everything in Astana, except for the Tower, is managed by Lord Arachnael and the Threadcallers. The other 5 clans are (sorted by hierarchy):
