Lex Talionis

  • Lex Talionis is an artificer bolt pistol that was rediscovered by the 9th Reconnaissance Battalion on the planet of Mimir .

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Like much technology in the age of the Imperium, the inner workings are not truly known or understood. It appears as though the weapon was made by a lesser able artificer, as its improved capabilities aren't consistent   When the weapon is fired, for the majority of shots it appears to have identical abilities to a standard bolt pistol. However, for occasional shots (approximately 1 in 10) the pistols mechanism accelerates the shell being propelled, so when it impacts with a target, it will cause additional damage.   In game terms, critical hits cause an additional hit

History

Despite their best efforts when interrogating the machine spirit of the weapon, tech-priests attached to the 5122nd Imperial Army have not been able to discover the true origins of the weapon.   All that is known is that, following a defence of the world's ruined archives from a Tau battle force, the 9th Recon Battalion and their supporting savant came across a still secured vault. After the Tech-priests had imbued the machine spirits to open the vault, a single gilded bolt pistol was found hovering in a stasis podium, with the ossified skeletal remains of an archivist (going by the heavy insignia still hanging around the neck).   Following it's discovery, and proper initiation rituals, the weapon has been gifted to Brevet Major Friedrich Hobart, as commander of the force to who rediscovered it.
