Soluvel

Giama's Arrogance

I knew that warring against the Dark Elves was a mistake, but despite my warnings, nobody listened. The general had already told his soldiers to ready their march. Nobody paused at the sight of me, why would they? I had become the equivalent of the local madman by that point. After the families said their goodbyes and the army marched, it was not long before I was proven right. We crested the hill and saw nothing but hellspawn as far as the eye could see. An army double the size we expected. This was the demand of the Soluvel. A bond between being and demon, a double of physical and magical power.
-The Tale of Commander Zrya
Living on an island with a direct portal to Underrealms has it's benefits. However, the demonic influence of the realm tends to corrupt everything it touches and the island country of Nethrend is no exception. The whole country is choked in a thick, sulfuric mist that, when coming in contact with water creates a vicious acid. Its thought that this is because the portal is linked directly with the fourth hell, the Netherrealm. Due to this, Most of Nethrend is a wasteland that many would not survive on. None but the Dark Elves, that is.   Due to this infernal link between the Underrealms and Nethrend, its not uncommon for the Soluvel to make deals with the demons and devils of the realm and they've even become an accepted society within the Nether. Over the years. This has turned the Soluvel into a chaotic and power-hungry race, seeking to make themselves stronger. A general reasoning for this greed of power is that, if the Dark Elves became powerful enough, they can raise the elven god without bringing all the elven people together. More unspoken is that, in order to do this, they would bring the elven people together through fear and obedience.     Soluvel from Nethrend were raised around chaos and power, learning that power is king and that it should always be striven for, no matter the cost. Despite this mindset, however, Dark Elves serve a big role in the society of Regnum. They serve as powerful mages and warlocks that can easily protect the cities they are a part of. In general, if a Soluvel moves from their home of Nethrend to the mainlands, they seek to do better than the rest of their people. Whether that is a good or bad thing depends on what their idea of 'better' is.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dark elves have a grey and ashy colored skin that seems to almost absorb light, ranging from a pale grey to a near-black in shade. They are also known by their pointed ears, a staple of all elves. Though, the ears of dark elves seem to 'droop', the tips angling down a bit.

Civilization and Culture

Common Myths and Legends

An ancient prophecy speaks of a herald that will unite the four elven races under a singular fifth banner. Upon this unity, a god will rise from the ashes of their old civilization and bring forth a new era for the world. The dark elves claim that, if they grow enough in power, they can bring this god into being themselves.
