Kaovel
Giama's Lonliness.
From anywhere in Velana, one can see the distant, ever-towering mountains of Mountglade, home country of the Kaovel. I had never visited the land, but several Snow Elves joined our cause in the Dark War. Each were unusually distinct in behavior, no one being like the other, and each acted like the others were oil to their water. This was the demand of the Kaovel. An underlying uniqueness that paired with a hostility for their own kind. A solitary race that depended on nobody but themselves.Mountglade is a place of civil war and solitude. One does not find friends in the mountainous country, only indifference and enemies. Unlike many of the other elves, who work and stick together, the Kaovel have always found it difficult to work alongside one another and, as such, they have learned to live a solitary life. They do best when they are on their own.- The Tale of Commander Zyra
All of this is not to say that the Kaovel cannot care for others, it is simply a matter of finding someone that they feel they can work with and not depend on. Their friends may be wide-spread, but those friends can always call a favor from their Snow Elf allies.

Common Myths and Legends
An ancient prophecy speaks of a herald that will unite the four elven races under a singular fifth banner. Upon this unity, a god will rise from the ashes of their old civilization and bring forth a new era for the world. The Snow Elves believe that it is impossible for the elves to put their differences aside and feel that this prophesy will never come to fulfillment.
