Hazel Copperwire
There’s a perfect place for every sound. It’s my job to find it before the silence does.
Sound Engineer, Ritual Harmonist, Hospitality Maven
Overview
Hazel Copperwire is the cheerful, crafty heart of The Echo Chamber freehold. A Wilder Boggan with the instincts of an acoustics witch and the tenacity of a Rock Hall technician, Hazel ensures everything from exhibit audio to ritual resonance runs smoothly. Though she rarely leaves the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, she’s beloved by the rest of Frequency Fae—and most mortals who meet her walk away smiling, even if they don’t know why.
Legacy
Hazel embodies the best of Boggan hospitality with an instinctual feel for harmony, both musical and social. She cannot abide awkward silences and will rush to fill the air with a warm joke, a friendly insight, or a song cue. She’s most at peace surrounded by humming gear, vintage amps, and guests who feel right at home.
She has a sharp memory for changeling stories, especially those with hard-won lessons. A formative apprenticeship under Orris, a boggan mentor who lost an ear to a Redcap brawl, keeps her cautious around some of the rougher Kithain—but not afraid.
Frequency Fae
Hazel is the glue of Frequency Fae, and arguably the reason it runs as well as it does. She tunes Finch’s jerry-rigged equipment with no complaints, keeps Remy’s shows sounding velvet-slick, and sits in companionable silence with Sylvaine during long off-hours. She’s the only one who ever successfully lures Knox to the lunchroom (once).
Mortal Life
Though Hazel cut ties with her mortal relatives, she maintains a healthy “platonic polycule” of downtown Cleveland friends who know her as the Rock Hall’s friendliest AV wizard. She can sell memberships just by saying something endearing about synthesizers.
She eats like a fifth grader (baggies of green grapes, Cheery-O's, and juice boxes) and swears like a Nocker if a speaker goes out. Nobody’s found a way to reconcile those facts, least of all Hazel.
Magic & Mischief
Hazel’s primary Arts are Spring and Legerdemain, often used on equipment, soundscapes, and the landscaping around the Echo Chamber. She’s uncannily gifted with tuning anything that can produce sound, from lutes to looping decks.
Her magical hospitality may even extend to an enchanted tea that “remembers your first heartbreak”—though she doesn't often offer it to guests.
She loathes shoegaze music and famously stole My Bloody Valentine’s actual shoes before a Rock Hall benefit. Finch took the blame. He still brags about it.
