The unforgiven

Summary

Pre collapse there was a empire of people called the Lilurin that where intrinsically linked to magic, it pervaded their entire society. This kingdom followed a strict code of laws. During the events of the The collapse the empire was beleaguered and losing the was the was on all fronts to the uncountable monstrosities of the rift. They turned to a last resort the use of magic to transplant the souls of their warriors into magically enhanced armour, this allowed their troops to start to win against the forces of the rift.
unfortunately the process came at a cost, when the souls were moved they lost parts of themselves such as emotions. This led to a number of ruthless warriors taking advantage of the chaos and seizing areas of land for themselves.
fortunately this came at the end of the Collapse and the empire could try to rebuild. The process of transplanting souls was outlawed but the rebel kingdoms continued to use the practice to create more of them. This eventually led to a civil war, in which the original Empire of Lilurin was losing to the magically enhanced warriors so they again turned to their last resort and created more to use themselves, this time with increased knowledge of the process. The rebel warriors would be known as the unforgiven and the ones fighting on the side of the Empire were known as the forgiven. The forgiven were led by a general Panax who managed to halt the unforgiven and begin to push them back to their strongholds, around what is now Dimcolt and Greybank.   This civil war came to an end when the empire realised that with the collapse and the sealing of the god of magic the armour of their warriors would soon run out of power and become useless. The unforgiven realised this as well and most sealed themselves away in hidden locations to await the return of magic. A few notable exceptions were the general Panax who managed to remain functional much longer and advise multiple emperors and was buried in the capital when he finally stopped. As well as Kendras a unforgiven warlord who controlled a large area in what is now the The Varisar kingdom and maintained her life using blood magic, it is unsure what happened to her.
