The collapse

Almost 500 years ago there was a colossal war that brought all kingdoms and empires in the world into conflict. The god of magic was waking up which was flooding the world with magical energy, this caused many wizards and sorcerers to gain huge power, along with this a rift opened up in the center of the world and from it flowed a tide of magic beings that were bent on draining the magic force from all living things. This war continued for 50 years across the world, the powers so great that the world was shattered asunder and most of the gods cast down into mortal form or destroyed from the effort. Eventually the god of magic was put back to sleep but with him went all magic from the world that draws its power from the magic force, others such as necromancy and blood magic which draw power from life force were damped but not gone. The rift remains in the center of the shattered continents and from it still comes an unending tide of monsters.
The continent that now holds the 20 Duchies and the Confederation were under the control of the Lilurin Empire a mainly human empire. Despite the continents distance from the rift the Lilurin empire was still caught in the conflict, their
