Loviatar
Loviatar was a divine entity in Sirasea. She was a demigod (aasimar) born from blood Ilmater spilled in the wake of a natural disaster in which he attempted to rescue survivors. Daris recognized his deep love for the community he sacrificed for and gifted him a daughter. Daris is considered one of her parents, though she was not Ilmater's companion. Her preferred aspect was female, and her appearance resembled her sister Lliira; she had fair skin, red eyes, and blonde hair braided into nine plaits with small daggers at the end of each, resembling a nine-tailed whip. She always seemed to be covered in blood and had scars all over her body.
Her epithets included The Maiden of Pain and The Willing Whip. She was keen on Ilmater's lessons of enduring pain to benefit others, but quickly found that pain for its own sake was what fascinated her, much to her parents' disappointment. Where her sister Lliira abhorred violence in most circumstances, Loviatar sought it out, believing it to channel of a purer divinity than worship. Her nature as a demigod made her immortal; she could die, but it was always temporary, and her body would regenerate in time. This caused her to cultivate a following of eager sadists and masochists that at times escalated to the status of a dangerous cult, especially after Shar took notice of her. They were both forced into exile at the the time of the Seal and now inhabit the Palace of Loss together. Like Shar, worship in the name of Loviatar is one of the few religious/cultural taboos in Sirasea, and one is often found with the other.
