Princess Kempay is a child of darkness who is adopted by the king.
She also adopts a boy from the river whom she names Bentamo.
She is married to Tamo.
Kempay lives in isolation in her own palace down by the river that has a protective shiled around it.
She has maidservants who are her only companions.
She takes on Bentamo's sister and mother as companions also.
Kempay and her husband are infertile but they adopt Bentamo from the children of darkness when he is put into the water in a basket by his mother.
