The Great Furnace

General

A powerful volcano that was shaped into a forge by the first mountainous jotun of The Clouded Age. The Great Furnace would be given life through the worship of these jotun until one day they would vanish. As The Clouded Age would come to an end and The First Age begin, it is said that King Endrik would be the first to uncover the furnace itself. Almost drawn to it, he found himself suddenly blessed by visions of a grand utopia city for his offspring and people. A vision that showed the cost of such a beautiful life, a cost that King Endrik gladly accepted. Not long after as his sons grew to hate him one by one, the city would grow more wealthy and inhabited. King Endrik would watch as each of his sons began to either head out and forge their own kingdoms, or take pieces of his own. But with each one that would leave, the furnace would grow brighter, warmer, and stronger. And thus it has been ever since, the furnace offering all one could ask for only in exchange for what you value most.

Domain

Competition, for all, must forge within The Great Furnace one day. Thus all who follow The Great Furnace find themselves overtaken with the thrill of competition. The most devoted among them feel the urge for everything, whether it be sleeping, eating or performing everyday tasks. They must always succeed and be in the top or they find themselves driven to train incessantly

Races that Follow

Rock Jotun are said to be the only species that overall follows The Great Furnace. However, it should be noted that upon our exploring of Endrik’s Last Hold, many other smiths and craftsmen of different species were counted among their ranks. Just too few in numbers to count them as full species that would follow and rather a common amongst the profession.

Preferred Item

A Smith's Hammer is said to serve as the simple item of all who worship the god of competition. Preferring its followers to prove power and right through creativity and creation rather than violence and conquest. Thus few who take up the smith's hammer are known to commit acts of violence without severe reasoning.

Church/Pantheon

Church of the Craftsman, a church located within Endrik's Last Hold and is noted to be the only church in the first age to actively recruit legendary craftsmen to serve and become saints

Holy Order

None as of yet, however there is word that a core group of crafters in The Trade Smiths Alliance may be forming one. The rumor is its in dedication to crafting professionals and assisting in gathering resources or tools for competitions.

Champion

King Endrik is the only known individual to defend The Great Furnace with violence, and seems to confirm that only the champion may act in The Great Furnace's name in such a way.

Symbol

An anvil with a smith’s hammer laid in front of it. This is usually located in a medallion or weapon pommel of the worshipper. However each symbol is also said to hold Rock Jotun runes that forbade them from doing harm without being harmed first or the intent for harm being given off. The hammer is said to glow red when intent of harm is within a certain range of the wearer, while the anvil will glow blue when no hostility can be sensed.

Creed

"Never strive for perfection, only to improve for perfection means you can no longer rise."

Follower Count

400 followers have officially signed their name to The Great Furnace's outer edges, a ritual common for worshippers and competitors. This is both a way of keeping track of those blessed by the god itself, but as well as a good luck ritual for all who wish to craft something legendary.

Notable followers

King Endrik of the Bjarg-Jotun (or in common, Rock Jotun), others to our knowledge seem to have kept only pen names they signed works with. Such as “Gold Fingers”, “Pinky the Stink”, or our favorite “Star Forge”. Each while legendary smiths, none would give their true identities for fear of capture or enslavement.
