Selmica
Being the second eldest continent known to date. Selmica is the size of what we believe Olymia once was with it either having been broken off or broken up with age. Selmica like Celsica shows no further signs of growth over the last hundred recorded years. With that said, we have only managed to map out a small portion of the known land, and can only confirm no growth in any documented directions. Considered one of the most dangerous lands in the world to travel, Selmica is known for its wide variety of beasts, plantlife and sentient life. Being deemed as barely safer then the northern Celsica, the continent plays the role of home for many a powerful and ancient society by First Age standards.
Geography
A vast continent that sees every kind of geographical uniqueness one can imagine in the known world. With less than a twelfth of what we believe the continent to be sized mapped to date. Selmic stands as the second eldest continent and with geography to show. With vast fertile fields, huge forests, vast jungles, and mountains so tall that they stand as the third tallest. Truly it is a wild and untamed world we live in.Notable Mountains
Though we have not fully managed to map all of Selmica’s many mountainous regions, we have managed to catch a few specific ones of note. Though more are under research currently, few have as vast a known history as the ones we lay before you today. However with that in mind, if you manage to head deeper south than any map shows, all notes can be brought to The Collective of Pyrus for a handsome reward.Survivors Rest
The original name of the mountain is said to have been lost long ago. However, Sostern who now rules over and leaves his Court of Fangs to reside within calls it Survivors Rest. As his long journey and discovery of this mountain would be what gave him salvation and allowed his fanged dragon kin to survive. With a mass amount of adamantine ore glimmering a deep bluish green within, the mountain is said to be one of the only adamantine mines in the world. And Sostern, unlike his Crakec cousins, was not afraid to keep his koboldkin of the fang dragon clan just for mining and smithing it. Now it stands as a labyrinth and stronghold for Sostern’s kin, while also acting as a main source of income to barter with the other nations. The Uncracked
A surprisingly short mountain that was known to be far wider and with massive pools of heated water from its icy peaks. The mountain would gain its name as Retra "The Cracker of Mountains" would take its lair. As every day Retra would launch themselves from it, nearly cracking the ground they stood on, and then at night returning by slamming with all their force into the mountain itself. Standing as the only mountain that has never broken to the creature, most believe it to be made of oventium itself.Hrimpursar’s Last Stand
Known once as “The Silver Mountains” during The Clouded Age, Hrimpursar’s Last Stand once was an unknown bufoni-folk spawning lands. However this would change right before “The Dining on Death Wars” as a powerful dragon known for its pyroclastic breath attacks would nearly wipe out most of the beastfolk and bufoni-folk who inhabited them. Taking the mountains for itself, it would begin an ancient ritual that many researchers believe is what caught the demon-folk ire and kicked off The Dining on Death Wars. As both the demon-folk would invade as well as the jotun clans would amass an army to slay the dragon. While the powerful draconic creature would nearly hold for five straight days of sieging, eventually the jotuns would fell it and the bufoni-folk would be slaughtered by the demon-folk. It is believed that in a final act of desperation, the dragon unleashed an ungodly plague upon the world that was frozen instantly where it stood at the sacrifice of many jotun warriors. With the demon clans fully unaware of the jotuns own war not a few miles above, the two forces would never meet as they returned back to their homelands. Leaving nothing but a crimson battlefield and the story of Hrimpursar who is believed to have been either the mage responsible for the freezing spell, or the dragon itself. The Range
A large mountain range that is fully encompassed by the multiple connected towns within The Collective of Pyrus. Each mountain is a reinforced stronghold with retaining adventurers on call in case of attack. The cities themselves that surround the mountains take advantage of the vast rivers that flow down from their peaks. However, few if any are allowed within the mountains to know more and few would let us publish even if we were. Outside many of the mountains can be seen with reinforced structures to ensure they stay standing. While the bottom entrances have been fortified and guarded as if a vault for an ancient artifact or a demon lords own tomb.Terra’s Peak
Where once a powerful Fae Court would reside now stands the mountain range named after their court. Terra Court was believed to be one of the lesser courts however with their fealty to the winter season court granting them great ice mana techniques the mountain range still laid untamed until the Crystal Jotun arrived. Known for its glimmering sun stone mines, the Terra’s Peak mountains are one of the most dangerous places in the known world. With the largest percentage of both lesser and apex monsters residing or having been born there. The mountain has a horrible reputation for taking creatures in despair and granting them unseemly powerful boons. Thus much of the mountains stay untraversed for fear of running into one of these beasts.Notable Rivers
While hundreds if not thousands of rivers exist upon this continent. The ones below are the most well documented and known by the general public. While we do not recommend river boating in Selmica, as an adventurer at some point you may try to do so. Thus we give you this one warning, all rivers go somewhere, and not all somewheres are places you can survive.Cracker’s Rift
A river that was created by the Cracker of Mountains' anger at the dragons that had landed within its territory. Retra was said to get so angry that it dug into the ground while it ran, creating the river with the force of its speed and hatred for the dragons. However, in doing so Retra would also expose the vast amounts of cobolt and iron ore that would cause many a merchant companies to attempt mining. Though to their dismay, the river is as dangerous as its creator with vast rapids and uneven shore lines. Few ships have managed to get deep enough into the river to even see bits of the glorious blue and grey ore veins.Sunna’s Splitting
Though few know this, Sunna Grunaga would originally also try to settle the land of Selmica. Having heard of his brother's success, Sunna would travel alongside a group of pioneers up the river to the east of Uthem’s Landing. Unfortunately, the river would continue far into the depths of Selmica before finally vanishing. When Sunna returned, he was said to be a slightly changed individual, and never seemed to speak on the subject again. However the river would gain its name as Sunna and his group of vanished pioneers would manage to expand it quite a bit before disappearing. Some still believe that the expedition was a success and instead Sunna decided to try and keep it a secret.Uthem’s Landing
A river between Niten and King’s End, it would gain its name as the landing point for many of the frost jotun that would follow Regin Uthem to settle Selmica. Thus many account the vast frost jotun ships expanding the river by force and allowing for trade vessels to come further in. In truth, the grounds were broken apart by Regin Uthems court druid Granny Smith (Though her mage name is actually Malus Domesica) and her grove to ensure the land would be able to support further expansion. The river itself was once quite small with it now being vast enough to support four warships side by side coming down it even at its smallest bends. The river is also known to be around four to five warships deep as The Cryptic Kabal would later report.Notable Forests
While much of the forests in the Selmica resource maps show only common trees, we recommend you not take this at face value. “Common” is a referred term for trees yet undiscovered but can provide wood. Thus technically a bush of any sort that has yet to be researched in detail can be a “Common” tree. But we want to bring this up as much of Selmica’s forest is known to be unexplored and unmapped due to the Lesser and Apex monsters that inhabit it. Thus while we will eventually discover more information, any you wish to provide is always welcome and rewarded handsomely.Political History
Having once been the home of many Fae Courts and even some of the Four Season’s Courts, Selmica is drowning in history. As one of the only confirmed continents with a full Deep Dark layer, and having played host to both the powerful beastfolk called Seepo and the Bufoni-folk. Every rock you kick over will be filled with political history, and thus instead we look to Selmica for what it is. A land for mana techniques to grow powerful and rule nations of people. As every nation has either followed this track upon it, or faltered and fallen to this track. Dotted with tombs of Demon Lords, powerful Fae, and even Apex monsters of old, this continent is truly a place of power and struggle like none you have seen before.Ecology
Everything on Selmica like Celsica is said to be stronger naturally. This could be due to the increased amounts of death ore, or the more vast lands and thus easier ability to survive. Truly we are unsure, the land is old and still steeped in powerful mana with beasts that have been around longer than dragons that still are roaming about.Foundational Flora
Uniquely we have not managed to explore much of the known continent of Selmica’s vast biodiverse flora. With some areas south of Olymia showing more intelligence and psychic abilities. While those near Drafika tend to have a more mineral based appearance to them while they camouflage into the lighter areas of grasslands. Truly Selmica is too vast to state a foundational flora exists as of current.Foundational Fauna
Similarly Fauna is so different depending on the portion of Selmica you are traveling. Thus the only similarity is the many creatures have runes engraved as patterns to their fur or skin. Or others that are capable of even communicating through telepathy or shared emotion. The land tends to spawn the most unique beasts of the known world and unlike its northern sister is somewhat documented.Temperature
While varying drastically across the continent, Selmica is usually around 45f to 75f throughout the lighter parts of the year. Thus it can actually be quite pleasant to travel when a massive snow storm is on the northern continents. However, it has been noted that Selmica gets the worst winters on record with even the deserts seeing feet of snow in a single day. These are typically caused by some sort of weather phenomena or mana technique gone horribly wrong. But there is also a lot of ancient scarring upon the land that has been known to cause winter storms to kick up randomly even in the midst of summers.Seasonal Variations
While Selmica is known to experience all seasons at all times, the further you go south the colder it is said to get. With eventuality many note that the concept of summer, fall, and even spring become lost so far south and winter is all that dominates. The rest of the land sees a vast variation of season however, lining up almost identically to the continents north of them. Thus if Crakec is experiencing winter weather, then The Uthem Kingdom will also be experiencing winter weather.
