Lady Letra

Lady Letra is described as a tall and thin tree stalk-like creature with a purple mushroom capped head and what appears to be two eyes that are carved into the tree itself. The mushroom cap is noted to have little vines that dangle down like thick strands of hair. She is said to have a natural illusion cast upon her that gives her the appearance of a large and powerful amazonian for the race of the victim who has laid eyes upon her. Her bark is said to be as hard as adamantine and seemingly bounces off magic when cast at it. Most do note her sad appearance, as even when she smiles the creatures’ eyes are said to always look like they are on the verge of tears.

Temperament

If you can manage to avoid the natural charisma, as well as the scent she gives off, and we do recommend referring to her as she. According to our sources, Lady Letra is actually awaiting a lover of hers that has yet to return. A druid that is believed to have long passed but who had taken care of her when she was still a small defenseless plant. As for her temperament, when she finds out you’re not a bard or a caster who can sing, it is found that Lady Letra becomes quite short and uninterested, Druids in particular seem to be killed immediately as she calls them "Disruptive and Disgusting, doubling down on their lack of value". Though non casters she seems uninterested in and unless one of her "pets" wants them, they are usually allowed to travel as they like.

  Follower's Oath
Those who have sworn to follow Lady Letra whether they were willing or otherwise, are pacted to give their hit dice worth of health each time Lady Letra is killed. However, a creature cannot make a pact with her that has more hit dice then Lady Letra.

Known Weaknesses

Seems to have a soft spot for Totemists, otherwise killing her bards and druids that serve her is your only way of wounding this creature properly as she is noted to be able to survive so long as one of her followers is alive.

Unique Spells

Loving Pact:
A strange bard-like spell that Lady Letra uses to force others into pacts. With a will save equal to the caster level + charisma modifier +spell level, those who fail the save can be forced to sign any single pact that cannot lead to that individual’s immediate detriment. This spell cannot force an individual that is not under any other effects at the time to give up their life in exchange for anything. The pact giver must in exchange for maintaining this pact, give up a single spell slot of their highest currently not already in use spell slots. I.e. if another ability requires a permanent loss of a spell slot, you cannot use those spell slots. You would have to use one that is already available.

Known Magic items

Harvestable Materials

None, one of the few creatures that when a piece falls off seems to turn into ash and then evaporate.

History

A few bards who have managed to escape the clutches of Lady Letra would later die from their wounds to pass on this information. What we learned is that when Lady Letra was first a seedling a young druid would come upon her when scouring the forest for herbs to add to his garden. This druid was said to have been a wild reaper who had broken away from a grove in Crakec and found themselves wandering. We are unsure if they were dragon, niwarve or Jotun but we believe them to at least be of the elder races of dragon or Jotun as the story will show. It is said that this druid would care for her and feed her for many years. Taking her aboard his flying beast and traveling the world to see so many plants. Lady Letra would say that she met Ciranor when he was young and would even spend time with Uthem and Sunna while they were still out proving themselves as proper warriors. Though her master said that they would never make much of themselves, and that neither of the Jotun brothers were like her master’s best friend Ogeron Grunaga.
The Story would continue that Lady Letra for years would travel with this druid until he finally grew too old and brought her to where she now waits. Uprooting her from the pot, and planting her where she could see the sun. The elderly druid was noted to have left with the last words "I will see you again, my love". It is said that since this happened, Lady Letra captures every bard and story teller to see if she can gain word of her long-lost love. Though as the years would go on, and the lack of the druid returning Lady Letra would grow anxious not hearing of the druid, thus she would take an idea from one of the bards she had enslaved. She would build a city grand enough for him to want to return, creating a garden of paradise where fruit and food grow plenty and those who live within the stone carved city find there every whim taken care of. Though they are forever in the service of Lady Letra. But even this city did not bring back her lost love, beginning to lose hope. It is said that the final straw would come the following year.
A proud and powerful storm Jotun raider that went by the name Grumf "The Mighty Fist" of clan Grunaga was said to be a lesser son of Ogeron or Endrik's who had yet to accomplish anything worth allowing him to carry the clan’s name. He would even disgrace himself further by managing to claim his glory through slaying an elderly druid who had been guarding an ancient horde of magic items from the elderly druids raiding days. Grumf would find himself exiled for the deed, and refusing to play to anyone else’s banner, Grumf would set out to stake his claim and find himself in the worst location he could hope for. Though lucky for one item from the elderly druid’s horde had granted him the ability to lie even when under mind effecting spells.
For later that year Grumf would find himself captured and enslaved by Lady Letra with what can only be described as a humiliating defeat. A quick snapping of the airship, the crew taken into Lady Letra's vines or thrown deep below the ocean’s surface. Lady Letra would find a ring that the elderly druid once war, and though luck was not on Grumf's side, he managed a lie that has kept him alive to this day. Having managed to convince Lady Letra the ring was a gift for her, and that he only was seeking her out to deliver it. Telling her that so long as he was alive the druid would have to come back to pay him. Though fifty years have passed, Lady Letra still waits impatiently at the side of Grumf and her large city. Still searching, still waiting.
