Chorizon

General Info

A race of 2ft tall scaled Niwarves, unique for their love of shiny objects especially copper. Once a common trading partner to the Niwarves, now a forgotten sub race that lives far deeper than any other in The Deep Dark.

Cities

Bedrokia

A city supposedly bathed in darkness, many believe it to be a myth. However, early drawings show vast caverns dug out, with copper ornamenting the walls and limestone pillars in between. Supposedly the city had a permanent darkness spell that was cast to assist with the Chorizon’s poor vision. However, it is also noted that at one time they did business with a forgotten Golem species as well as small tribes of Minotaurs. Thus, many signs of other species can be found throughout the city. It is also noted that in the original drawings it showed them riding dragons, and trading with early dragonborne.

Technology periods

Here we shall discuss the main technological discoveries by this species.

Deep Tools:

The only species who is said to have created tools for mining deep beneath the world's crust. It is said that the tools a Chorizon makes can penetrate anything they touch. From oventium to dark iron, nothing can stand in the way of these strange black stoned tools.

Wars

Here we shall discuss the notable wars for each period and who they were against.

The Fire Dirt Wars

Not much is known of the war between the Dragon Lords and Chorizon. But what is noted is that the species seemed to have attracted the attention of the dragons. This apparently would lead to a Chorizon slaying a dragon that had invaded their territory during a great excavation that was set to become farms later, if accounts can be believed.
It is said that following the death of the dragon, the war would be known as “The Fire Dirt Wars”. This would spark the dragons to launch a full on war for many moons, dedicating vast forces to the genocide of the Chorizon. This was said to finally end when a young dragon delivered large quantities of copper to the Chorizon ruler. Though our research is somewhat incomplete, it is believed the Chorizon saw the gift of copper as symbols for kindness. As the Chorizon believed that copper was the lifeblood of the one who gave breath to their species, the ruler of the Chorizon was said to understand the gesture as a sign of peace. However, the young dragon was said to originally have travelled to the Chorizon homeland, seeing the vast amounts of copper and assuming it had greater value to them. The young dragon who would later come to be known as “Ice” the adventurer, who would take the gamble and gather all the copper he could find in hopes of paying a tribute to end the war. The records show that Ice fully understood what the gesture meant at the time, however other personal accounts by Ice state he was as surprised as the Dragon Lords when the Chorizon ruler chose to make peace after receiving the gift. Thus would end the war, and push the house of Ice to higher standing amongst the Dragon Lords.

Religious beliefs

Here we shall discuss the different religious beliefs in this race’s history throughout the periods.

Copper God

Depicted as copper skinned with iron eyes and facial hair, the Copper God was originally believed to be the only god of the Chorizon. However, with later research, coins and forms of currency have been found that depict both the Iron Giant God and Copper God as almost identical beings. Only there features being flipped for both sides of the coins, and the minimal runes seemingly in reverse. The Copper God is looked upon as the god of creation by the Chorizon for its “Life” gifting waters. Though upon further research, this elder father like god has chosen to curse his followers. As the waters they speak of as a gift in The Deep Dark are polluted with mesna drawn to the heavy copper veins throughout it. Thus, those that manage to survive the extreme poisoning of their mana veins tend to come out quite durable and tough, even in some cases able to withstand dragon breath without protection. The Copper God can be commonly found depicted near the many waterways of the Chorizon people, identifying what water is poisoned and what is safe.

Iron Giant God

Depicted as the Copper God but instead with iron skin, copper eyes and copper facial hair. The Iron Giant god was confirmed to have once been considered the rival god of The Copper God. However this seems to be due to a split between those who wished to drink the poisoned waters and those who wished to drink from the clean but death ore infused rivers. Those that believed the glowing blue ore was safer served the Iron Giant God and refused to inter marry their bloodlines with those who served the other. Uniquely, due to their interest in death ore, the servants of the Iron Giant God were said to have built many of their churches in the highest points of The Deep Dark, exposing them to natural sunlight.

Known diseases

Here we shall discuss known diseases to be active and/or discovered or cured during the different time periods of these races.

Undead Madness

Supposedly by ingesting the secretions of one who has been corrupted by undeath causes a Chorizon to go mad. Some have noted this madness turns into grand art pieces, or vast strongholds. But others note the tearing of limbs out, the devouring of one’s kin, and lastly the want to fornicate with the glowing squids. This disease was mostly common amongst servants of The Copper God due to the natural necromancer mesna that formed throughout The Deep Darks many copper ore veined rivers.
It is noted that the only cure is to slowly reduce the amount of poison in the body. If potions with specific poison resistances are available, we recommend them to start with. The process will take about a year and after that you will be fully cured. It is also recommended to avoid waterways with copper ore or copper in general in The Deep Dark. This is due to the natural conductivity of mesna to copper and the high concentration of necromancy spells used within The Deep Dark. Creating a literal poison from the magic of the world to cause all those who drink it to suffer a horrible fate.

Anatomy

Here we shall both provide a design as well as an explanation of the anatomy of the race in question.

Ability score increase

Gaining a +2 to strength and a +1 to dexterity, your species is quite strong and agile, but don't forget, you're blind in the sunlight.

Age

Immortal? To this date, we have no outstanding research showing a Chorizon dying from natural causes.

Phenotypes

Gray, deep blue, or black of scale, with large black eyes, as well as a thick layer of bone that covers the fists. With larger hands overall due to their increase in muscle designed to tear rock and stone with ease from the walls.

Height and Weight

The tallest Chorizon to date was 2’4, with the average being between 1’5 to 2’0. The heaviest Chorizon to date was 700lbs, however it should be noted this race is extremely dense. The average weight is around 400 to 500lbs.

Alignment

Traditionally this species looks upon the lawful side as honor bound warriors. However, they are by no means looking out for your wellbeing. Instead, they are more noted to be considered evil, as a Chorizon will kill you if it’s between him starving and you living. Though they consider those with vast shiny wealth to be respected at all costs and typically show more fear to those with plenty of shiny wealth. Due to the power they must have, physically or otherwise.

Speed

10ft is the average walking speed, you are dense, but your dig speed is 50ft.

Founding

Here we shall explain when the race came to be, how it came to be, and whom it is credited to and where.
No research has ever been conclusive on the specie's original founding or where it came from or where it lived. Beyond the few images from long dead dragons who visited the city Bedrokia during the beginning of The First Age. Though many accounts state that the species was a small fraction of the primordial’s, no truth has come of this.
