Benu "Ship Cracker"

Monster type

Roc

Monster Base species

(Collosal) Roc

Danger Classification

D+ due to the creature only being interested in attacking large shimmering airships and beasts that exist amongst the cloud and storm Jotun lands. Typically mistaking ships for Tempesthoofed Headbutts, its natural food.

Diet

Tempesthoofed Headbutts are almost exclusively what it hunts though I have noted the creature to eat Jotuns off of large ships. Though it seems uninterested in creatures below the size scale category "Huge".

Ability Scores

Str 35, Dex 45, Con 35, Int 10, Wis 10, Cha 1.

Alignment

Neutral

Temperament

This creature seems to be no better than a typical beast. Driven by its hunger and curiosity, the creature can easily be looked upon as no different from a normal Roc.

Classes

20 Barbarian, 5 Nightmare Spinner.

Special qualities

Spell Like abilities: At/will - Essence of the Dragon, and Visions of Entropy.

Known Weaknesses

The creature is at the end of the day, a beast. Which allows it to be easily tricked and fooled by bait. My advice when defeating this creature is to capture a fish that it likes to eat. Put it to your deck and have a big enough ship for it to land upon. From there, beating the creature should be quite easy with harpoons, javelins, and long spears. Though do watch out for its anger and its strange ability to cast magic out at random.

History

Benu is noted to be named after a mythical beast said to have roamed the skies in the clouded age. A beast so powerful that when it flapped its wings the skies would alight with flame. Benu similarly is noted for the fiery tips on its wings and massive wingspan. Though beyond this, the creature seems to have only grown lucky in its hunting. Having been born the largest of its nest, Benu seems to have managed to devour any other roc that enters its territory. Growing stronger and larger with each kill, the creature was said to later act as an attack bird for a pirate group known as the Gold Pirates. While the Gold Pirates would rule the skies over Drafika and even contended with Ice himself for the continent of Crakec, in the end the pirates would fall to greed and Benu would find itself once again free.
It is only recent that we have begun to spot the creature in the skies near the Toth Covenant and almost as if attracted to the continuous bloodshed the creature has yet to leave. Circling the lands like a plague to all airships trying to go in or out of the capital. The creature seems only interested in devouring anything that comes within its territory, though I personally saw the creature swallow staffs of magic. Almost as if hunting for them, Benu "Ship Cracker" lives up to his name as he continues attacking all around.
