Vaspar

Vaspar is the fifth planet in the Tirsei system. It is a large ocean world covered in ice. Its large, barren moon, Ersoman, creates enough friction to keep the subsurface oceans liquid and causes icequakes on the surface.   Vaspar is home to the Vaspari kingdoms. A plethora of small, low-tech kingdoms that range across the ice fighting over control of the food and women found in the remaining Irresi cities, the only habitable regions of the planet.   Vaspari society is an inversion of Irresi culture, being heavily patriarchal and keeping females as the property of individual males. The Vaspari are extremely rugged, having nothing but disdain for art. They do appreciate technology, however, and the only females afforded any measure of status are those who are adept at maintaining the ancient Irresi machinery that keeps the cities and their hydroponic farms functional.   The Turunai and Republic of Erkas have largely ignored Vaspar as it has no natural resources or anything else of value to either nation. Several recent Erkasian films have been set on Vaspar, and a growing number of Erkasians have begun calling for military intervention to improve the conditions of the world's females. The Mussar has rejected such an initiative worrying that the Turunai could view any expansion towards the outer Tirsei system as a threat to their territory and noting the lack of valuable resources on Vaspar.   Vaspari speak a variety of Irresi. It is one of the least intelligible varieties but is minimally intelligible.
