Season 3, EP 1: Overlook Harbor

The fearsome pack of Sahuagin launched a frenzied assault at the Overlook Harbor. The group battled the Sahuagin, and successfully defended the locals.

Upon gaining their bearings, the party began to explore their new, sunbaked surroundings. They quickly made contact with the town’s ruling authority, the Alderman Ritter. They also sought out sources of knowledge and found Sister Sharallan, a old elf of over 700 years, a dedicated member of the Emerald Enclave, and the wise keeper of Overlook Knoll.

Sharallan recounted the legend of Leyon Runeshire, a figure of considerable renown who had arrived in Overlook Harbor on a secret mission long ago. Leyon had performed great deeds in the region, battling various threats and seeking to bring justice. However, his story took a tragic turn: he had disappeared while relentlessly pursuing and attempting to purge the cursed Ezodwyn Oasis of a deeply entrenched, fiend-worshipping cult. The group now knew their next task: Find the Ezodwyn Oasis and investigate it further. However, the Lowland desert is vast and unforgiving, they'd need a guide.

Ritter found an opportunity to do a trade: Help the Overlook of the immediate threat posed by the lingering Sahuagin presence and he will give the group the resources to find Ezodwyn. He explained that the Avanzel Ruins was the staging ground for Sahuagin, and that if they were to overtake it, this would solidify the Overlook's safety. The party, always ready for a challenge, agreed to help clear the ruins.

As they ventured into the ancient structures of Avanzel, they made an unexpected discovery: the ruins were also home to a tribe of desert lizardfolk known as the Viashino. They encountered Yurlok, a formidable barbarian, and Tethisithesis, the tribe’s shaman and shrewd leader. Far from being hostile, these lizardfolk expressed a desire for a permanent home, seeking to reclaim Avanzel as their ancestral territory. Recognizing a potential ally, the party ventured forth together with Yurlock to secure Avanzel.

As they walked through the dungeon, it was discovered that they were in an ancient dwarven barracks, and that spirits were haunting it. The group fought many spirits that laid to rest there, including the old general Kildrak.

Sam consecrated it to solidify it from any spirits to haunt it ever again.

With Avanzel secured, the party refocused their attention to the Ezodwyn Oasis. Ritter supplied the group with a number of resources including a scout, Mahun, sturdy camels, and lots of water. Their path was set, and the group ventured forth toward the unforgiving desert of the Lowland Plains.
