The Hathian Guard

The Prime Senate of Lacryn, leading government body of the Republic of Lacryn, naturally needs protection, and no one is better suited for the job than the elite Hathian Guard. Only the most skilled members of the Lacryn military forces are selected for consideration for the Guard and put through 7 years of special training. Out of those who undergo the training, only around half pass the scrutiny of the Captain of the Guard and the Premier Senator themself. If they are deemed worthy of becoming a Hathian Knight, those selected are sworn to secrecy surrounding the matters of the Guard and of the Prime Senate.   Knights of the Guard wear signature long, red and silver hooded cloaks that obscure all parts of their body, concealing expertly crafted white-adamantine armor, the position of their limbs, and a plethora of lethal and nonlethal weapons and tools. To maintain anonymity (doubling as an intimidation tactic), all members of the Guard wear smooth, enchanted masks that protect the Knights from negative magical or otherwise supernatural influences. Those Knights skilled in the magical arts of Volia or the Void Lord can utilize further functions of the masks, one of which is being able to use the mask as a spellcasting focus. The only exception to this attire is the Captain of the Guard, currently Varis Alvarithial, who wears their cloak pinned back with the Hathian Seal, thus revealing the shimmering armor underneath. The Captain's mask is melted down, spun into ultrathin threads, and woven into the cloak, still providing the magical protection while removing the anonymity of the Guard's leader and public figure. The Hathian Captain also only bears a single weapon, one in which they are exceptionally skilled at using; Varis Alvarithial's signature weapon is the rapier, his being silvered and its hilt in the design of the Hathian Seal.   Prime Senators are almost constantly accompanied by a Hathian Knight with extremely rare exceptions. The Premier themself is protected by the Captain of the Guard, Captain Alvarithial.
