Quantum Loom

Overview

The Quantum Loom was developed on the Victoria Aconitum by founding members of The Brotherhood, Anabel Morris and Amir Habib. The loom was more compact than a typical Quantum Atomic Forge but had all the same capabilities for creating Demimaterials plus more advanced manufacturing of complex structures and combination materials.

The key improvement was the ability to use additive 3D printing technology to create a scaffolding structure that could then be introduced to the right catalyst program in order to complete its transformation into a proper demimaterial or combination of materials.

History

The first work toward a quantum loom was started in 2061 when the Victoria Aconitum launched and submerged. Anabel Morris and Amir Habib, both former QAS employees and founders of The Brotherhood, began tinkering with the Quantum Atomic Forge they had built for the Victoria Aconitum. They experimented with various 3D printing technologies until eventually developing their own system that worked well with the manufacturing process.

A major improvement to the quantum loom occurred in 2075 when Bethany Habib returns to the Victoria Aconitum after working a stint with QAS and brings a new Mass-Energy Generator technology to The Brotherhood. This is quickly incorporated into the Quantum Loom concept, and this is the style of Quantum Loom that Astraya eventually installs on her ship, the Monkshood, in 2082.

Known Looms

The former Quantum Atomic Forge on the Victoria Aconitum becomes the first known quantum loom. The Brotherhood build an unknown number of looms for their larger aquatic fortress dwelling the Chiara Aconitum. The Monkshood has a compact quantum loom onboard. There are no other quantum looms known to be in existence.
