Forest of Frandir

The Forest of Frandir was created by the goddess Gecyndas. She wanted to create a place on the Shattered Kingdoms for mortals and immortals alike to visit and feel like they were visiting her home plane of Lunestera.

It was a vast magical forest situated in a valley between two mountain ranges. It was a difficult journey for many but once they were there they were greeted by a feeling of welcoming and peace. No one was turned away unless they had evil intent. The weather was always pleasant, either sunny, a light rain or a soft dusting of snow. There were no buildings but the trees were large and offered protection and the moss covered ground was soft as a feather bed. The goddess herself often tended the forest and on occasion she would visit with those staying in her realm. However, ultimately, the responsibility for tending the forest and keeping the peace was left in the hands of the Chosen of Gecyndas.

Many gods and heroes of legend visited the Forest of Frandir to relax and regain a sense of peace that they had lost in the outside world. One such hero was Lufian. She visited the Forest after she stopped the invasion of the Dark Elves of Holaris. She ended up staying in the forest for nearly twenty years. She was offered a place in the Chosen of Gecyndas by Gecyndas but Lufian politely turned her down, feeling the responsibility and burden was not something she wished to carry. Even though she turned down the goddess she was asked to watch over the Forest while the Chosen of Gecyndas were needed elsewhere and she graciously accepted the temporary responsibility. She is the only mortal to ever be offered the special responsibility of tending the forest.

Sadly, as all things in the mortal realm, the Forest of Frandir was not to last forever. It resided on the mortal realm for countless eons but the jealousy of the witch-goddess Gefas, Gecyndas’

mortal half sister, was too much for the forest to endure. In 257 BGU, on the eve of Gefas’ ascension to godhood she used her powers to destroy the Forest of Frandir.

To this day it is nothing but a bitter wasteland. No plant is able to take root in that soil.
