GMTown
GMTown (AKA The GM-Graveyard) is a place of trade, both in goods and rumours, where shadowrunners come to find jobs, restock and plan runs.
It is a pit in the ground on the border between Everett and Bellevue, on the north bank of Lake Sammamish. Many smugglers, squatters and other such undesirables find themselves here among the bones of a long-abandoned massive construction project, but even they would say not to stray too far outside of the beaten path, lest one gets lost to whatever lurks in the shadows.
As a smuggler's paradise, the locals here have fought tooth and nail for their independence, from gangers and corps alike, but recently the community has grown prosperous to the point where it is becoming more difficult for gangers to ignore. One of the main things keeping any particular gang from taking the whole pie (as opposed to just a slice) is the fixer network being established in The Thief's Back Pocket; a British pub where the real business of GMTown is being made.
In 2029, General Motors began construction on a highly ambitious project: an arcology that they gave the working title, "Project GMTown".
The site of the arcology was on land once occupied by the old Marymoor Park at the north bank of lake Sammamish, right between Bellevue and Everett. Once built, it would have been one of the top 20 largest buildings in the world, with enough occupancy to hold up to 60,000 residents, as well as a whole host of industrial manufacturing facilities, commercial centres, and what would have been the largest indoor sports arena in Seattle.
Instead, what remains is a pit in the ground, all thanks to the fallout of the nanosecond buyout in 2033. General Motors was forced to abandon the project as a result, and eventually squatters, smugglers, gangers, and other undesirables began to occupy the pit.
Today, below many layers of concrete jungle, GMTown is a thriving black marketplace, where you can pretty much trade in anything.
