Eknar'naeth (EK nar NAYTH)
The nameless
The Eknar'naeth are the secret agents of the Tar'raq Naeth resistance against the Lords of Fire. They operate alone and in utter secrecy. Some are even sleeper agents, with their very indentity masked from even themselves until they are triggered into action. The name itself literally means 'the nameless unbound'.
They operate as messengers, thieves, saboteurs, spies, informants and sometimes assassins, working against the interests of the Lords of Fire at every turn. Some will use propoganda to undermine the faith of the people who remain tithed to the Lords, seeking to cut off the flow of devotional magics. At other times, they sabotage mining operations to disrupt the flow of Crystal uhd to the Lords' coffers, or the delivery of water and other goods along the tradeways of the Godswollen and the Golden Reaches.
They are all highly trained in the use of Blood magic to mask their true intent, and resist the tortures that can be meted out by the Illuminators. Many will forcefully sallow themselves into soulhusks or overload themselves with magic into rapid and deadly hemolithiasis rather than allow themselves to be caught and the secrets of the Tar'raq Naeth be risked.

History
After the failed uprising of the Stonesky Riots, those combatants who survived turned to more covert means of resistance. Many pose as simple merchants, or beggars, while others sought employ within the mines across the Shatterbright and quarries along the Stonesky or even within the Merchantry of the Torrent itself. As the dust settled after Impetine's apotheosis as the new Lord of Fire, the survivors began to reconnect, and the network of cells started to form.
The activist known only by a few amongst the network as Qemrannath, is probably the closest the organisation has to a leader. Their true identity is unknown, and the name simply translates as 'mender of cloth'. It was Qem who originally trained the first of the Eknar'naeth in the use of blood magics to hide their true identities from their adversaries, and the one who perfected the techniques used in the creation of the sleeper agents.
The technique is not far removed from those used by the Lords of Fire themselves during the Feast of Welding, and involves magical surgery to divide the agent's mind and keep their true self comaprtmentalised within, as a new identity is overlaid on top. The Sleeper agent will have no knoweldge of this after fact, and the new identity will feel to them like their true self. It is through this method that the most powerful of the Eknar'naeth have inflitrated trusted and senior positions within The Flaming Brand and Merchantry of the Torrent, waiting for their trigger to awaken.
