Swords in the Chapter Hall | Swordtember 2025
We're putting the "sword" in Sword & Sorcery this month! En garde!
What are swords, if not a true staple of fantasy? From the genre of Sword & Sorcery itself, to the grand battles of epic fantasy, the tense duels of historical fantasy, and more, there are so many ways to fit a sword or two (or thirty) into your worldbuilding and storytelling.
Take up arms, and join us on our quest!

Swordtember 2025 Prompt List by Faith Schaffer
About Swordtember:
If you're unaware, Swordtember is an online creative challenge I started back in 2020. The challenge is themed around swords and takes place across the month of September. From 3D models to D&D campaigns, and everything in between- it's always a blast to see what people make!
How to participate in Swords in the Chapter Hall
This article was created to encourage more swordery (that's a word, I swear) in the community, and highlight those who are participating in Swordtember already — even if you're using another prompt list besides Faith Schaffer's! While the article may focus on members of Seven Tomes and other chapters, I'm happy to invite anyone in the community to add their swords to the grand armory!
Submit some swords!
This is a very relaxed challenge — do one, do them all, it doesn't matter to me! Here are some simple ways you can submit your fantastic swords to the collection:- Create an article on WA!
This can be a "Swordtember 2025" compilation article, or just an individual work directly inspired by the event! We can feature the article here, and you can fill out as much as you want this month or in the future. - Upload your artwork your world's image gallery!
Provide us the bbcode so we can embed it here in the article! (If you are submitting images to embed, no AI please!) - Submit written blurbs!
If you don't want to commit to the entire challenge, or you're not feeling artsy, drop us some worldbuilding to share! You could also just share some words about your favorite existing fantasy swords, media influences and inspirations, fun historical sword facts (include sources!), and anything else on-theme.
I made two swords, but from a different swordtember list posted by CoolGirl: https://discord.com/channels/348060277989965844/1359726804041994411/1413855227521663036 First one is an #anchor:
