The Great Kingdom Mithraz

Inhospitable to outsiders, The Great kingdom of Mithraz is home to a vibrant and thriving civilization. Far from the rest of the world, there is a sense of exotic mystery from its peoples and cities. Stories talk of the great blue and gold walls which protect its great cities, with ornate and bold designs which stand tall over the otherwise flat rolling hills of sand and the low fertile river valleys. This mystery and wonder attracts many would be travelers.   The Nation of Mithraz was founded after the great conquests of the King Darivai Selucumid. It was his armies that marched out of Mithraz and brought the other states to heel. Upon finishing his conquests he took the title of King of Kings, and his descendants have maintained that title ever since. Great roads have been constructed to unite the far flung cities, and making preparations for the annual flooding of the various rivers which breathe life into the otherwise inhospitable landscape. The people farm and grow crops needed to survive, but also grow various wondrous crops, some of which defy normal agricultural thoughts. Their wizards are sometimes refereed to as Green Wizards or in the less positive light dirt magicians. These magic users are often employed and sometimes volunteer for the state to help with crops creating wondrous plants and crops. Though foreigners often are surprised that such powerful people would stoop low to help the humble farmer.   Each City has a patron deity, where a massive temple to this patron deity stands near its center, and there a sense of pride and dedication to this patron that pushes even the less religious to measures of fervor to please their protector deity. There tend to be great festivities to these Patrons which take place twice a year which are always large affairs. The people of Mithraz are said by outsiders to be a strong and devoted people who never do anything in half measures, for if you do the desert will destroy you.
