StarBlight

Dust and Destruction The meteor swarm that obliterated outpost 21 claimed countless lives the night of Skyfall. Sod and debris were displaced in ways that can only be a product of cosmic levels of destruction. What nobody could have anticipated was the purple dust that came with it. Dubbed the StarBlight, this dust collects and clumps together to form facsimiles of the local life.   Form Informs Function First contact with the mysterious dust yielded more questions than answers... Any contact with the dust sapped energy and consciousness. The purple lizards and rodents seemed to be entirely comprised of dust. Bolder expeditions found dust beasts as large as kestrels. After a disastrous attempt to further research of this dust took the lives of a young scholar, his shape was a common form taken by the Starblight. The research team was surprised again when the dust copy of their fallen comrade cast fireball into their camp.

StarBlight

Nobody knows exactly what profane evil was seeded by those meteors, but those who have seen it wish they hadn't. The first sign of danger is the toxic, purple vapor that makes the mere act of breathing a laborious undertaking. Whatever foul substance that makes up the vapor will collect in the lungs and on the skin draining the victim of energy and the will to go on. It will continue to siphon and congeal until it is cleaned off or it completely consumes the poor unfortunate soul.   This bedeviled matter will also settle into piles and coalesce into little, twisted facsimiles of bugs, lizards and rodents all more dangerous than what they copy. Continued amassing will result bigger and more complex creatures such as goblins and dire wolves. If this trend continues, researchers do not know. They are, however, painfully aware of all the reconnaissance parties that have yet to return.
