Architecture

The city of Eremiaantelios is built upon the many islands that inhabit that part of the Crystal Stream.  Most of the bridges are stone arches curving from one island to the next.  The bridges have no railings and are typically only one wagon width in length.  Thus most all traffic is oneway and though there are no signs locals will get quick angry at anyone attempting to flaut the established order.   The houses and shops are made of either stone or mud brick with tiled roofs.  The buildings will feature either a veranda, deck, courtyard, roof garden, or some combination.  Typically the more affluent places would feature a courtyard, while the less well-to-do would have a roof garden and the poor would be packed into an apartment that shared a courtyard.  Both courtyards and roof gardens would contain a water feature, though for the poor it was often only a well.

Geography

This town is locaated on the banks of the Crystal Stream with the foothills of the Crystal Highlands boardering the north and west of the town and an open plain to the south and east causing the river to spread over a wide area with little depth.  This wetland area has a large number of islands of various size on which a variety of plants grow, including the night flowering petunia.

Climate

This part of the world has only two seasons - the wet season and the dry season.  The temperature averages at about 65 degrees Farenheit with little variation throughout the year.  The recent high was 83 with the highest remember temperature being 98 degrees Farenheit.  The lowest remembered temperature was 46 degrees Farenheit.   The seasons are relatively equal in length.  During the winter the rains fall and snow falls on the nearby mountains.  During the dry summer the land is saved from draught by the snowmelt from the mountains.
