-an email from W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P.
Many W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. operatives face an abundance of trauma and stress. Some hear about or witness things from headquarters as a Base Operative, while others see it firsthand out in real life as a Field Agent. Yet others actually go through tough situations themselves, from fights and torture to simply lying and pretending. These things can take a toll on the human mind. Even yet, many of the individuals recruited by the agency have already experienced rough circumstances and intense, problematic lives prior to their enrollment. All people are different, and what may seem like nothing of import to one person could cause an extensive mental breakdown for another. This is why the organization provides Therapists who specialize in the mental well-being of its employees.
Often, tangible solutions to particular problems may not exist, but the process of humans talking out matters and getting things off their chests has proven to be a beneficial practice. Internalizing guilt or traumatic situations can cause individuals to spiral or become even more unstable. Therapists are an essential part of the agency, as almost every recruited agent is considered 'broken' in some way, having a traumatic past or a toxic trait that has drawn them to the eyes of their recruiters. Though many humans like this can be considered problematic, the organization sees these individuals not merely as faulty, but as beings with immense potential to use their experiences and tendencies for the benefit of W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P..   Many types of therapists are employed at the organization. Some are agnostic, while others are religious. There has even been the implementation of TAB therapists, though this particular service is currently experimental. All sessions held with therapists of any sort are recorded for safety and training purposes, but the TAB therapy sessions are even more heavily monitored, as AI systems are often completely unpredictable.   Though there is not currently an official open offering of TAB therapy to all agency employees, some operatives naturally decide to talk things out with their Computerized Alert Relay Systems, which, in turn, do provide impromptu advice. Operatives are always warned to report errant vehicles if they have reason to believe that their CAR is not behaving properly. This warning extends to any questionable advice one might receive from CAR who is attempting to become an unofficial stand-in Therapist.

Career

Qualifications

In many cases, Therapists are recruited just like any other WILLOWISP operative. They are properly vetted and screened. Then, they are informed of the nature of the company and its employees. Though Therapists are not directly exposed to situations that most active operatives face, they are often confided in with information that could be harmful if fallen into the wrong hands. For this reason, they are still treated as agents, in that they must agree to the same confidentiality statements, be briefed on proper protocol procedures, and work within a protected WILLOWISP facility. Several Therapists already worked in a similar field before being employed at the company, while others were recruited during or immediately after attending school for the profession.
Commander McCox gives newbies the rundown:   Listen. I'm not gonna sugarcoat anything. You're here now, and it's too late to turn back, but you're gonna see some things. You're gonna hear some things. You're gonna go through some stuff. And you're gonna have to do things you never thought you'd have to do. Or, maybe you have thought about it, but you may think it's cool now, but you might not feel so cool when it actually happens. Things here are really real, and that can take a toll on everyone. That's why there are Therapists here to help agents deal with the tough stuff. And, trust me, there's a lot of it.   Yeah, you're gonna have fun here, too. And you're going to do a lot of cool things. But if you ever feel like you need to talk to a Therapist, don't be afraid or ashamed. It's a natural thing and, nine times out of ten, all the cool people you see around here have seen a Therapist at one point or another. They may even see one regularly, and that's okay. My advice to you is to take a little time to get acquainted with that Therapist portal. You shouldn't wait until you're panicking. You should already meet with them and learn who they are. Put them on speed dial. So when something happens, you can contact them right away.   And, trust me. Most of them are super chill. Just like talking to a regular person. I went to one once. It was a really nice session. I was able to talk about so many things and he didn't once accuse me of going on a tangent like most people do.
