Alpha Centauri
At 4.37 light years away, Alpha Centauri is the closest star system to the Sol system. During the First Expansion, it was the first star system colonized by humans.
Geography
Alpha Centauri is a trinary star system. The two primary stars of Centauri A and B are class G and K type respectively. The third, Centauri C, is a red dwarf star. The primary stars obit each other as a pair, and then the red dwarf orbits the two primaries.
Both stars have planets, the majority orbit Centauri A and B. Initially this was five rocky worlds of various environments and sizes but now hosts numerous stations and a world station.
Centauri C has one rocky world and boasts an impressive asteroid belt, along with a world station of its own.
